From what I saw last night, almost everyone...RHCP87
Man I wonder what CNET is going to do about this. They basically ruined a multi-million dollar website overnight. After the huge backlash Edios is recieving over this I doubt any publishers are going to want to advertise here. On top of that thousands of people are canceling subscriptions. Whoever this Josh Larsen guy is I bet he is in so much trouble with the board of directors.
The only possible outcome that can save this website would probably be to bring Jeff back (because his credibility shot through the roof by not giving in to corporate pressure) and fire the tool that fired him. Then CNET needs to come clean and tell people how this will never happen again because Jeff is running the entire site from now on.
Unless they do this I hate to say it, but this site is finsihed.

Not a big deal? Most people come here to read what are supposed to be unbiased reviews. Some people base their expensive 60 dollar game purchases on these reviews. If a publisher can just spend advertising money to guarentee a good review score then you don't have a real review. What you have is a paid advertisment like a infomercial. If thats not a big deal to you then you then I suppose you should stay at this site.

why would I be kidding? This site isn't my life and I don't pay for a subscription. I've probably been suspended for a larger amount of time than I have total time posting.

For a user with over 5000 posts I don't know how you don't know who jeff gerstmann is.
This is a big deal to me. I actually liked jeff's reviews, but it could have been any editor fired over this that would have upset. Editors now are going to be afriad to give a game a fair review that is spending money to advertise on the site. And what that translates to is heavily advertised games will have higher scores. Consider my subscription cancelled.

That's why I said it's not a big deal to me. Seeing as how I don't base my purchases off of reviews from this site, then no, it's not a big deal to me.
I cancelled, dunno where to go to next......maybe 1up or gametrailers...........I'm surprised how p@#$#$-off I am about this, I'm gonna miss Jeff, Been coming to this site for years now............................
I cancelled mine after Ratchet Review :) By the way Aaron Thomas(reviewer of ratchet)was the one who simply copied and pasted "official gamespot policy" instead of answering questions about Jeff.
I have probably read some of Jeffs reviews but never really knew who the guy was until recently. People get fired all the time and this normally would not matter to me. But it is the manner in which he was reported to have been fired. Be gave a game a bad review so what it's his opinion on the game. Its sad that Eidos can't take a little criticsism it's even worse when gamespot can't stand behind there reviewers.
Now beyond that I really have no idea what is going on.
I didn't have a paying subscription (thankfully), but aside from the rare forum visit, GS will no longer be getting web hits from me. Not because I have any great affinity for Jeff (in fact, I never personally liked his reviews all that much), but because of what it says that he was probably fired for the sake of an advertiser.
I'm not going to waste my time on a review site that puts advertising dollars over journalistic integrity.
The reviews have been going downhill lately anyway.
