Everytime there's a thread about the military someone like you comes in.
Whats wrong with what he said?Excuse me, but how are you exactly helping the Iraqis?
Are you kidding? Providing running water, building cell phone towers, water purification plants, rebuilding destroyed homes, providing medical assistance, building schools, setting up a democratic government... the list goes on and on.Dont you go to basic training before Ranger Training? And isnt Ranger training more than 2 weeks (ranger school?). Either way congratulations, Im sure it will be quite an experience.specialedpalYeah i think he got confused, Ranger school is a 9 week program, with 3, 3 week phases. He first has to get through basic.
[QUOTE="Daffy101"]How are you doing Ranger training before you go through basic, and ranger training is a 9 week course separated into 3 different phases. Any way good luck.Today I decided that I'll be in the U.S. Army for the next four years. I've done all the paperwork and everything. I leave to (dont knwo where yet) for Ranger Training for 1-2 weeks starting july 2nd, then Georga on July 11th for basic training for nine weeks, then to texas for training to be a medic on september 15th for 19 weeks, then back to georga for 3 more weeks for airborne training.
I'm going to be a Health Care Specialist for the United States Army Airborne Rangers.
I am so excited. I can't wait to finish senior year now.

I think it's a shortened form of training, since Ranger school focuses on teaching small unit leadership skills, which wouldn't be necessary for a Medic.

Dude, I'm JOINING THE NAVY It was just a joke.If you take every little crack like it's the end of the world and every absurd or covaluted thought serious, you're going to drive yourself crazy.
well get ready for a drill instructor to yell at you for 9 weeks. Won't that be fun?Food_Nipple
Modernday Basic Training is nothing like it used to be, and a large part of BT is just mental preparation and pyschological(Sp?).
If you prepare yourself you won't have much or any sigificant trouble.

Are you kidding? Providing running water, building cell phone towers, water purification plants, rebuilding destroyed homes, providing medical assistance, building schools, setting up a democratic government... the list goes on and on.First off it was the United States Military in the First place who destroyed the entire infastructure of Iraq during Op Desert Storm and Op Iraqi Freedom. Our Air Power has killed soo many Iraqi Civilians, and for what? No WMD's and Saddam wasnt harboring Terrorists
Do soldiers get any privacy? How do they you know...have happy hour?IlivedIt blows while you're deployed, but on post you're fine. You get plenty of leave, and as long as you're there to report in, don't ask, don't tell.

You think the Iraqis are going to start kissing ass or something? The only reason we went there was the simple reason of the attack in 9/11. No it's not because of we suddenly cared about the safety of Iraqis or others across the world.

The military follows orders, that's all they can do. However it is important to remember that you serve the Constutition, and that the Nuremburg principles always apply.

You're right. It's because we had intelligence on WMD's. The reaons we went there wasn't to save the Iraqi people and anyone who believes that is delusional. But, I don't recall him ever stating that we went there to save the Iraqi people.......stop making assumptions please.

Well then there is no reason for the army to act like they are trying to save the Iraqi people on tv.

Well there we no WMD's. Now the reason for being there is to try and stablize this region for their sake and ours. Helping the Iraqi people and getting them on our side is a something that needs to be done in order for this region to be stablized. You can believe we are there for oil, but this is the reason that politicians give us. That is all I'm stating.

Technically getting them to like us shouldn't be important, what should be important is training their security forces, building quality hospitals, building schools, and other such infrastructure that we destroyed when coming in. After that it is the Iraq citizens responsibility to establish a brighter tomorrow, not the US.
