Do NOT waste your money on this movie. The entire thing is so cliche it's not even funny. It's your run of the mill stereotypical slasher flick, nothing else. (i.e. woman runs from room to room, locking herself in random closets only to have the doors bashed down with an axe, where she narrowly escapes her fate). 0/10 this was garbage.
wouldn't it be hot if they made it so that the masked people were actually good people who just basically wanted their home back. And have the masked people help out the woman towards the end who hurt her ankle. Then let them go free, then the guy can be like "should we call the cops and the lady is like NO they helped me". Just that change in the story line wouldve made it a respectable 6/10, who the hell wrote the story anywho?

Meh, I thought the movie was infinitely better than all of the ridiculously unscary torture movies coming out lately. Reminded me a lot of the French horror flick Them, which also IMO had excellent suspense leading up to some great scares.
The movie wasn't original but it had enough shocks to make me efficiently creeped out. Plus it's a great movie to bring a date too :D
Well I liked it, it was good to see a horror movie with good suspense and atmosphere and characters I actually cared about. The director based on partly off the manson family murders and the murders in the french horror films Them. People say it ripped off them, but it was actually written before them so no they are wrong.

and for everyone else, go watch ILS or THEM in english, it is the movie the strangers is based off
i have seen the Orphanage twice already and I own the DVD:| Them is not the movie the strangers is based off, the strangers was written before them. I'm sure that Them influenced it during filming, but you cant call it a ripoff. them is a very good movie, but they are not the same. To me they are both good in their own ways.
