*SPOILERS!*

Man, I was disappointed. First of all, my dad always hates good movies. Then my dad tells me that No Country For Old Men was one of the best movies he's ever seen. I've heard good things about the film, too, so I watched it.

What the hell was so special about it? A drug deal gone bad. The creepy guy was a very interesting character and was probably the best part of the film, but every other part didn't really seem to be as stunning as I had hoped. Also, why didn't they show Huellen die? What was the point of that car accident at the end? Why did the film end with the sheriff talking about his dad?

I did think that one part with the car crash was hilarious, though, with the little boy commenting on his bone. "Look at that ****ing bone." That part made me crack up.

Overall, I think I'll give it a 3 out of 5. It was average. What'd you think of it? Also, what'd you think of The Number 23? I watched that movie, too, and thought it was one of the better films I've seen. He jumps on the insane boat a bit too early, though.

I thought it was really fantastic. I was particularly impressed by the acting. I loved every minute, honestly, but that's just me.

Wow. You sound exactly like one of my friends who complained about No Country for Old Men, but thought the Number 23 was great.

The movie wasn't ultimately about the killings or the money. There was a lot of symbolism beneath the surface, and the movie had a way of building up an enormous amount of tension without any musical score. I thought it was great.

im so glad someone else feels the same way. the movie was average. the assassin was a great actor he was what made it worth watching all the way through. i felt it kinda dragged on they could have cut a lot of scenes out. The sherriff talks about his dad because he cant keep up with his job any more hence the "no country for old men" title.

I'd agree about how well they built up the tension, but I guess I just didn't pick up on any of the symbolism. The acting was great though.

I thought it was prettty good 4/5, the drug deal wasn't really explained and I'll probably get flamed for this but I didn't like the ending.

I thought it was great all around, Great energy and I loved the ending. Im going to need to watch it again to pick everything up but yea its a very symbolic film and I guess the understanding or realization of the symbols can help with the enjoyment of the film.

Alot of the symbolism deals with the fate of its characters. For instance, watch the movie again and you'll notice that the three main characters are never onscreen at the same time, yet are very closely tied together. The last lines of the movie (Tommy Lee Jones talking about his dreams) are his subconscious feelings about the choices he made and what he thinks is coming to him. Llewelynn knows he's getting into this mess ("Tell my mom I love her" "She's dead", etc) but still keeps trying to avoid what's coming to him. In the end, it's not Chigurh that gets him (as he believes), but cohorts of the thirsty man in the truck. There's a lot of that kind of thing going on, and that's what makes it so good.

And the title, I believe, is taken from a W.B. Yeats poem "Sailing to Byzantium".

I think its a very good movie. One of the best from last year, I do however believe that it should not have won best picture, there is a hand full of movies I would choose over NCFOM as best picture.

It wasnt so much the fact that nothing happened that bothered me. Because a slow movie can still be good if theres a point or theme, but I just couldnt find any point of this movie. I didnt take anything away from it. The credits came up and im like, ok, whats the point?

Yep, this wasn't about the deal itself. It was about the current state of the West, and killing as a force of nature.

I loved the film. 4 of 5 stars at least. But, I feel that "The Lives of Others" is a far, far better film. That is one of the very few films that awed me.
