So I never clearly understood what a hipster is...

And google yields no proper answer to my doubt...so...can anyone at ot explain what it is?

I would rather have intelligent and ellaborate responses...not just something like "hipster are the crap of society" or "when you see someone listening to biever...thats a hipster"

Basically from what I have seen hipsters are people that: Do not like popular music, follow certain trends and say that they are non conforming and, they like to act like they are better for some reason.

Now that is just my idea, some people might have a different one.

They wear glasses with no lenses, douchey hats, and listen to indie rock.

There is a good online dictionary, which deals with all sorts of urban slang, which will give you a good definition.

Those people who wear huge glasses, and basically dress up to make other think they don't care. Also, they hate mainstream things. If their favorite band goes mainstream, they will stop liking that band. They think they are better because they knew something before it became popular.

I.E. "I liked *so and so* before their music was on *popular movie/show* and thefore I am better than you."

Look up CTFXC on youtube. They're hipsters. They try to be witty with irony (hipsters love irony), think that everything they do is cool (documenting every thing they do and putting it up on youtube), wear skinny jeans, they probably drink PBR, and try to bring back retro sayings/clothes. 1 of the most ironic things they've said, from one of the videos I've seen is "You guys know that song Friday? I kind of like it, it good. I don't know why everyone is hating it" or along those lines. Most generally too, hipsters brag about the fact that they can name tons of bands that no one has heard of.
