Melbourne being the oh-so-fashion-conscious city it is is riddled with hipster kids - you go out and you see the local fashionista out with their mismatched clothing, tightly stiled (misspelled due to GS and their obscure censoring) hair and pencil moustaches - all too cool for school. Just a fad really.
I always thought a good early reference point for hipster chic is Nathan Barley (worth checking out on youtube). It was 2005, but you know it still stands up y'know...
