Yesterday i was walking(my mum asked me to get her some bread and stuff) to the supermarket so i quickly got the stuff she wanted and tried to get home as quickly as i could. As i was walking i looked forward and saw like, 9 guys beating up this boy. The boy looked about 12 years old and the people attacking him looked like they were about 14 or 15 years old. One of them looked about 6 years old. I froze, feeling extremely scared and powerless(im only 14). I wanted to help the boy, but i knew i stood no chance against 9 boys. The only other people on the road apart from me and the boys, was an old lady with an old man(they also didn't know what to do) walking beside her. I stopped, and sprinted of home with the groceries i got for my mum. I feel reaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllyyyyyyy reaaaaaaallllly bad that i didn't help the boy. Oh and btw i didn't have my mobile phone with me so i couldn't call the police. Do you think i did the right thing in this situation???? What would you have done????

You should probably have called the police as soon as possible, but it's not like you could have helped him without putting yourself in danger, you shouldn't feel guilty.

Personally, I would've helped the poor kid (since they were only 14 or 15), but in your situation I think you did the right thing about running home. You should've called the cops though =/

Wasn't much you could do. If you tried to stop them, they'd start hurting you too. At most you could have told a responsible adult nearby. I wouldn't worry about it. Sucks that he got beat up, though. It's possible that he might have done something to those guys and deserved it, but I have no idea.

There's not much you could've done. You were outnumbered and outgunned. I wouldn't sweat it.

Well Don't Feel Bad, There Wasn't Much You Could Have Done.

But if It Was Me, I Would Have TRIED To Help The Kid, Even If I Didn't Stand A Chance.

You should feel very guilty, not only was you a bi***about it, but what kinda loser doesn't have a cell phone on him at all times? That's just ridiculous. I personally would have waited atleast until they were done and went over there to check up on him. TecmoGirl
He's 14 years old what'd you expect him to do? I know that I didn't carry around a cell phone when I was 14 (which was only 4 years ago). But you're right, he shouldve taken on those 9 kids who are older than him by himself. :|

You should've went back to the supermarket and asked for help, but there was nothing you could do...don't sweat it. You should probably tell your mom about it though.

If your only 14 yourself i think you did the right thing. You would of endangered yourself by doing anything, but you shouldn't feel guilty about leaving it.. As you said.. You were powerless.

Of course there's something you could've done! Knock on the nearest door and ask if you can use the phone to call the cops. Is that so hard to figure out? Jeez...

Well that was you--people who are at the age of "10" and "11" carry cell phones on the norm these days. Also, where did I say he should have taken on "9" kids? That was up to him. Im just being blunt when I said he handled it like a b****. He ran home to mommy not only because he was weak, but because he wasn't smart enough to think of a better action to take. Just because he's 14 doesn't mean anything--I know people who are 6"3" and only 14 who could probably beat an adult's a** as if they were one. I wasn't going to assume anything based on his age though--I just said how I feel about it based on how he explained it.

Next time you better think more clearly. After all, you were in no danger, they were beating the crap out of somebody else, not you.

I'm pretty sure the reason he went home was because of fear.

Too say he was weak doesn't even come into this. 9 of them against him it wouldn't matter if he was strong.

And saying he isn't smart is pathetic. He was scared the first thing you think about isn't always the best action. AND HE DID THE SMART THING BY NOT GETTING INVOLVED. He goes over causes more trouble. Him and the boy are going to get it twice as worse by pushing them back.. Do you not understand how things work?

Yeah stand your ground and everything, but he isn't that kind of person, he was scared and rightfully so at his age.

It all comes down to how you were raised. If I was your age I would have gone back to the store and called the cops from there. It's too late now, just get over it.

not confronting was a pretty smart idea. Personally i would have called the police and try and find some people to help myself out like at the supermarket.

This TecmoGirl is starting to get annoying. First she intentionally comes off as a whore in http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26523534&page=0, now she unfairly berates the TC not being emotionally attached to his cellphone and for doing what he felt was right, which in fact was the right thing to do.

I wasn't going to assume anything based on his age though--I just said how I feel about it based on how he explained it.

yea but why u have to be so harsh about it :(

It shouldn't matter--my opinion isn't even the majority. I just hate to see people do nothing when someone is getting jumped. I have actually seen people in crowds circle around somebody getting jumped and nobody calls anyone or does anything to help. My mommy ends up having to call someone to break everything up--it just really bugs me when people don't make the right decisions on this matter, because when they don't, it continues to happen. So I'll admit, im abit sensitive to the issue.

Anyway's, forgive me for not quoting correctly, I don't understand this "no valid tags error" junk.

I'm pretty sure the reason he went home was because of fear.

Fear of getting his a** kicked because he was to "weak" to take on "9" people--which is understandable. It's possible to fend of 9 people if you wise up on how to do it, it's not an impossible feat, he was just to weak to do it. That's all there is to it.

And saying he isn't smart is pathetic. He was scared the first thing you think about isn't always the best action. AND HE DID THE SMART THING BY NOT GETTING INVOLVED.

The first thing you think about may not be the best action--but in some cases, it is. He simply wasn't smart enough at the time to get involved in the right manner. And from an physical point of view, it probably was the best action to take. Not getting involved any other way is just an excuse though.

He goes over causes more trouble. Him and the boy are going to get it twice as worse by pushing them back.. Do you not understand how things work?

Don't even go there. Please.

Yeah stand your ground and everything, but he isn't that kind of person, he was scared and rightfully so at his age.

There's nothing wrong with him being scared, but that doesn't change the fact that I feel he handled it badly. He didn't have courage--he was a b****. Im only two years older then him at the most probably, and I could easily make better decisions on this matter then that. He just made the wrong choice--that's just how I feel. You feel otherwise, deal with it. It's as simple as that.

There might've been a psycho with a knife or even a gun in that group...

Maybe they could have been nothing but little weak a** boys without any weapons at all, who have to lower themselves to jumping people in numbers without any weapons whatsoever. Nobody knows for sure, but if that was the case, there was always another option to handle it in a better manner.

It is stupid to say he should have helped the boy. Have you seen the number of knife crimes involving teenagers in Britain lately?

Tecmogirl, there are more than 20 people I know of who could take on a group of nine violent people, none of them exist in real life. :|
