So I was watching Saving Private Ryan and came to a realization....

Ok, I've seen this movie before and saw it yesterday but I was watching the one scene where the guy was shot in the stomach and bleeding to death and his comrades were trying to stop the bleeding and all and he was like... "Oh god I don't want to die mommoy oh god please I don't wanna die uggghhhh."

So my thing is, if you were dying whether it was in a war or anywhere, why would you act all scared like that and mortify your friends? I wouldn't want to die but if I was dying I wouldn't want to be remebered as a coward, if you knew you were going to die anyway then why would you go out as a coward? Wouldn't you want to say something like "Avenge me mother*******" or "Tell them to go to hell." or something heroic to be remembered by?

Yes I know I'll get flamed with people telling me how serious war is but whether it was war or peace or whatever, if you were dying why go out as a coward?  Oh plus if you don't want to die then don't join the army infantry during the bloodiest war in history, work in a gun factory or do some non combat thing.

What do you think? If you were dying would you be crying like a little girl or would you try to be heroic and make use of your last moments to be remembered?

QFT. Seriously, if you're dieing from mortal gunshot wounds, not alot of thought is given to saying something heroic. 

 Here is  a suggestion.Wait untill you are dying,especially if it is violent and if you go out gracefully your comments stand,otherwise untill you are faced with the situation you dont know. I am sure there are a lot of "heros' that would break when gutshot.

Its like the could you respond and be a hero if a fire or some other emergency situation happend in front of you? Untill your faced with it you do not know.

Unlikely to work for a guy. Most of the labor force during the second World War was female. As a male, you were expected by culture and social concerns to go fight.

Yes, fighting on a battlefield with swords and arrows is immiedietly comparable to tanks, mortars, and machine guns. Here's a hint, modern war is nothing like medieval/impieral era warfare.

If it isn't painfull, then chances are you won't notice it until the entire fight is over or won't drastically impede your combat performance. If you literally can't fight anymore, you will know it.
