First of all give him some Native Tongues so he realises Hip-Hop isn't all guns, money, violence blah blah blah

Why? Doesn't he have the right to like what he wants?LJS9502_basic
Certain people can do with exposure to things that they don't normally do/listen to/experience etc.

Why? Seems arrogant to me to tell someone they need exposure to something else.

I recommend you leave your friend and his great taste in music alone! stevendiep_100
not all rock is good, hardcore and heavy metal are considered rock, not to mention the dreadful screamo

Because they might find they enjoy it and feel glad that someone pointed it out.

Actually...that tends to make them more resistent. If he's going to like it...he'll discover it on his own.

Well from personal experience I have found that to not be the case. I'm not talking about ramming something down someones throat (or in this case ears).
Anyway whosnext.....the hip hop I listen to is by Rakim, Tupac, Nas, Kanye, Immortal Technique, Talib Kweli, Dr Dre and LLCoolJ, Eminem on occasion.
Try some of that....seemed an easy transition for me.
old skool rap is the bomb, start with that, like bel biv devoe (i think thats how it is... i dont remember his name)garrett_duffman
That's New Jack Swing. :|
TC did your friend ask you to provide him with some dope Hip-Hop? Is he willing to try it or are you just trying to get him to like it?

I thought you hated Hip-Hop. :o
If he's into rock then there's pretty much no chance he'll like rap/hip-hop. Just let him listen to the style of music that he wants to.Taegukki
I don't understand that. They're differentstyles of music eachto be enjoyed on their own terms. A lot of rock fansdo actually make the effort to get into Hip-Hop.
