..So Is My Music Pretentious Hipster Garbage?

A little recap: this is a contiunation of my 'everybody hates my band' thread. People were asking for a sample of my band's music so here's one song. Note its the poppiest song out of a batch of 'em that will be on the album, and the newer ones arent posted on youtube yet. (the others are harsher on the noise aspect). Also the lo-fi crappiness and vocals buried under the disortion are intentional. my band is kinda noise/post-punk, we can't gig anywhere because everyone hates us

I was waiting for a riff and/or a melody to kick in but they never did. It's just noise (I know that thats what you are trying to do), it's just that I don't like it. Theres nothing on that track that stands out. For a moment I thought those noises were some kind of intro to the song but nothing happened. Sorry dude :?

Edit: Your audience must be really limited, still dont let the negative response from me and many others make you want to quit music. I've heard some more tracks from that youtube account, you have a vision that I respect but don't really enjoy or would follow. Remember, in the end art is whatever you want it to be and if making this kind of music makes you happy... then don't quit. :)

As a fan of some noise, the sound is inherently prerentious... thats something you'll just have to deal with.

Hipster? No...

Meh, it could be worse... At least it didn't make my ears bleed, but it was really weird. I wouldn't really call it a song; more like "an atmosphere" or something. However, I prefer really polished, clean music with a heavy focus on melody, so I'm clearly not your target audience. :P

I wonder how big that audience might be, though; your music is definitely not "listener friendly"...

Besides, if you want your music to be "loved" by everyone, why the hell are you making "Post-Punk Noise" in the first place? That's what pop is for; start making generic Punk Pop music and you'll go mainstream in no time. Problem solved. If, on the other hand, you started making that kind of music to set yourself apart from the mainstream or whatever, you must have known from the start that it's an extremely niche genre that is not meant to be appreciated by the majority of music listeners. It's underground and kind of pretentious by nature; the fact that not everyone's going to like it is kind of the whole point, so why are you even complaining?

I thought it was pretty good. The sticks clacking together or whatever it is could be buried a little bit more.

Also, you should start adding a few more layers as the song goes on.

edit: was listening on laptop speakers. Now that I'm listening on actual speakers, it sounds awesome.

I think the song would be perfect with some things added in, maybe a vocalist with some lyrics, some guitar, maybe a 2nd guitar and a bass guitar, some drums too

Thats not Hipster, and thats not pretentious... That was terrible. Noise rock actually has rhythm and speaks a language of musical communication. Tons of great shoegazing and noise garage bands have shown this in the past.

No I am not, but I know of the band. To much wall of noise at times, not enough refinement for my taste.
