I feel bad for my sister. Today is her birthday and now, every birthday for the rest of her life will probably get over shadowed with "A fallen pop star died this day X years ago!"
Guess it's not as bad as the kid born on September 11th.

Today is also the first anniversary of when me and my year group had our high school prom. We were on the coach on the way home and everyone was getting texts on their mobiles saying that he had died - no-one believed them. When we heard it on the radio we were like, 'WHAT?!?!' The radio station played his songs for the rest of the night.

these things pass though. After 10 years or so it will only be a little blurb in the daily newspaper. Lennon is not mentioned on December 8th or whatever very much that day. I don't even know when Elvis died.
-takes a break from listening to "Recovery" and "Thank Me Later" to listen to "Bad" and "Off The Wall" while watching Spain vs. Chile-
This is a ridiculous notion. You don't think singers are musicians?Technically, MJ was not a musician, as he did not play an instrument. Nor did he write music, so he was not a writer. He was actually a performer.

Been that long since people have been kissing his ass huh? I still laugh that the day before his death no one gave a damn about him, calling him a pedo and whatnot. But once he kicked the bucket it, OMIGOD WE LOVE YOU.Flame_Blade88It sounds more to me like people who liked him but were quiet about it due to his reputation as a pedo suddenly had an excuse to become a lot more vocal.

Technically he was a musician, by definition.
He didn't play an instrument, though.
So did millions of other people. His death was hardly any more significant then any of those in my opinion.Darth-Caedus
Outside the man's questionably extreme eccentric life****and personality, he was a humanitarian and donated much to charity. This isn't suggesting that the man was some how better then the other people, but to why he is not only beloved for his music but other aspects.

We must always remember he was playable in Space Channel 5 (Dreamcast nerds holler or something) and Moonwalker on the Genesis.
and I like this video

He's still a musician though. And maybe he didn't perform with an instrument, but it is said that he could play the piano and guitar. I'm sure he could at least find his way around a piano during all those recording sessions. And if you really want to get technical, he occasionally played the bongos back in his Jackson 5 days.[QUOTE="Nifty_Shark"]
[QUOTE="comp_atkins"]people were talking on the news about where you were when you learned he died.. like people are going to remember where they were when they heard.... strange :|IPWNDU2
JFK seems to be the biggest "where were you" moment. Any others?
Billy Mays
elvis?
I love it how, before he died, a lot of my friends would make the typical Michael Jackson jokes, and now they are acting as if there is no reason to live with him gone.
One friend even called me stupid because I like the Beatles but not MJ...:?
[QUOTE="King_Creole_35"]He was ridiculed mercilessly years before he died, but once he died everyone treated him like he was some sort of god...and I don't know which was more annoying. :|LZ71The second one. Easily. Not so easy to me. In fact, I think the former is more annoying, as I don't think I have seen anyone treat him like a God. Just a great entertainer.
It's ridiculous and imo outrageous the amount of coverage that MJ's death received from the media. It's not his fault I know, but with news talking about his death constantly for pretty much the rest of last year you would have thought the guy was Jesus Christ or something.
I never really got micheal jackson. His music wasn't my style anyway. My opinion is that people die, and that is the way of life.Hellfire-1
Not an opinion but a fact. It would have been neater if you said "and that is the circle of life"
[QUOTE="Xx_Hopeless_xX"]Thinking about someone crying over this a year later makes me sick..scorch-62Thinking about someone thinking of MJ as their second father makes me even sicker. Maybe the thought of him and what he likes to do/is said to do with kids is appealing to them..
Didn't care then, don't care now. He was a mediocre (at best) musician who could dance well but that's it...chessmaster1989mediocre  ? Thats going too far.
