So my friends suicidal

One of my good friends tried to hang himself back in grade 7 a bunch of times but could never tie the knot right lucky enough. Now we're in grade 11 and he has told me he might try again. His life time dream has kinda been ruined and he can't get a girl friend. As his friend I'm not really sure what to do. His parents know he tried back in grade 7 but I doubt they know about how he is feeling right now. What should I do? I don't want him to go through with it as I would feel super gulity

Why would you feel guilty? Did you have something to do with his dream apparently being ruined?

But anyways just try talking to him and being nice with him and stuff. Just be a caring friend. If that doesn't work, then...I don't know what to tell ya.

I would but thatcould be a tipping point for him because they don't get along well. And a big argument at christmas seems counterproductive

If your friend truly is sucidal, help from a professional is needed. There is nothing you can really do to help other than just being a good friend.

Tell him that he just has borderline personality disorder that effects teenagers usually, it will pass. The best is to tell him to just stop caring about whatever it is, and well.. Help him out with that. Just dont try too hard to help him, then it rubs off.

I'm not sure really how many times he's tried more then 4 I believe (3 hanging and once a knife)

A gaming forum isn't a place for such advice...you need to seek professional help for him.

Why he thinks his life is ruined? Maybe you could help him by talking and proving he is not right about that.

Also, you should tell someone, maybe your school counselour and of course, his parents, even if they don't get along well they should now what he is thinking.

He really wants to be in the army but he has a bit of a weight issue (not really that bad) He was working on getting in shape but his dad got mad at him and he gave up

How is that your friend pretend to be in the army if he can't even take a discussion with his own father.

Anyway, you should talk to him and convince him to get in shape so he can get in the army, aside from that, i don't see what else you can do.

Thats another thing I said the army (canadian) has hundreds of jobs and isn't really in much of a postion to be turning people away

If he didn't tie the knot right he most likely didn't want to die in the first place...if you want to kill yourself the chances are you will not fail..if he's telling you that he might try it again then he probably wants you to stop him..

True..i tend to think his friend won't go through with the act...he's "failed" multiple times already..that doesn't scream "i want to kill myself" to me..

Believe me, I couldn't care less if the kid succeeded or not, I'm just trying to save the OP some pain if his friend is legitimately suicidal.
