Has anyone noticed that we aren't in another great depression? That unemployment has somewhat leveled off? That the rate of unemployment has drasticly decreased in growth? We have to have car insurance so why is his health care bill so contriversal? Everyone seems so disappointed in him but its only been a year. He has alot on his plate. How about we wait until he's atleast half way through his first term before we start judging him on broken promises? We have a three branch system of government. Its not like he has to power to do whatever he wants. If the president did Cheney would have been waging war with everyone and making torture a national past time.

He's not bad in that he makes bad decisions. He's bad because he doesn't seem to do much of anything. I know this is mainly because the Senate is almost evenly split between Republicans and Democrats and because Democrats don't get along with each other but Bill Clinton was almost in the same situation and got stuff done.

I'm not much for politics, but didn't the national debt skyrocket in the months after he took office?

Bad is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think he's horrid, beyond just disagreeing with him in principle for being a liberal. I despise his politics, what he's doing to this country (IMO of course) and I loath his smug, pompous attitude.

I think a lot of people that don't normally follow politics got caught up in the hype up to his election. Once the hype wore off, a lot of these people became disgruntled that electing him wasn't an overnight fix.

I personally haven't really developed an opinion on his performance yet.\

EDIT: I like how so many said he "didn't listen to the people" after the health bill was passed, which was the exact same thing he said he'd do if he was elected.

Obama is shaping up to be one of the best presidents in modern history and I will gladly cast my vote for him again in 2012in a heartbeat. Look at all he has accomplished in just under 2 years. Healthcare reform, Financial reform, ending war in Iraq next month, stablized our economy, equal pay for women act, finally a clear plan for the Afghanistan war,got BP to pay back claims to the victims of the spill in under 24 hours, no terrorist attacks, just 2 weaksauce failed terrorist attempts which where captured in under 48 hours. Those are just several of many things he has already accomplished.

Presidents never get appreciated while they are still in office, Obama is a visionary who is ahead of his time. I think 10-15 years from now historians will consider him one of the best presidents in modern history.

I completely agree with you, every president has things they've done well and things they haven't thats just the way it works, people can obsessively hate him or excessively love him, all in all he's just average. (I do like his ambitions for nuclear disarmament though)

I know that haha I'm one of those people that wish everything was peaceful, but i do also realize the need to protect our country. One of the big things that didn't get much media coverage was his Nobel Peace Prize (deserving or not)

Well, I personally think it's too early to really judge how good or bad of a president he is. So far, he isn't doing a very good job, but he still has a couple of years or so to improve.

Fox News has nothing to do with my opinions on conservative ideals (I'm not neither conservative, nor liberal. Way to jump to conclusions). Every literate conservative I know does NOT rely on Fox News as a reputable news source. I have researched MANY of their so-called "factual" reports, and have found slanted and completely incorrect information many, many times. Fox News is produced the way it is because it generates revenue, not to give accurate information.

I think he's an absolutely horrid president, partially because I don't agree with his politics, but also because he literally hasn't done a thing to help this country that hasn't been liberally biased. Obviously, if he's a liberal president he'll push his liberal agendas, I understand and accept that, but refusing help on the oil spill from 24 countries who were perfectly outfitted to come in and save our ass? That is ridiculous. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but since the spill began its been nothing but a ploy to stop offshore drilling. Thankfully some judges have sense, but has that stopped Obama from rewriting the bill to stop offshore drilling three times now? Nope. My dislike of him comes not from the fact that he's liberal, Bill Clinton while by no means a perfect president, was an example of things going well on both sides of the spectrum while under a president with a very liberal agenda, but Obama is simply a poor president... either that or a man with an agenda that certainly does not involve our county's best interests, whether you're liberal or not.

Yes, Obama is a bad president. But on the bright side, he's not the worst and in a few years he'll hopefully be out of office and we can all forget this ever happened.

Since when do we have to have car insurance?

AHUGECAT
If you own a car you have to have car insurance. I hate Obama because he is a conservative and the things he promised to do... he is not doing. I'm not sure if that's "his" fault... but he is the president, and was coming in after a president who had more signing statements than any 2 presidents combined. The same president who also tried to establish the "unitrary executive." Oh, and Obama was also coming into the worst debt and federal deficit in US history, ever. Chutebox... george bush took a 450 billion dollar tax surplus, and turned it into a 780 billion dollar loss. Technically, half of the "skyrocket" was carried over from a bush initative. The other half was, arguably, an emergency to not let virtually every business go bankrupt. I guess we'll see about that though.

Yes. A few good things don't cancel out all of the bad. Compare the amount ofnegative to the amountofpositive.

Yes, Obama is a bad president. But on the bright side, he's not the worst and in a few years he'll hopefully be out of office and we can all forget this ever happened. fidosim

I Agree with you but i think itsinappropriateto just throw Fox news in there this is a thread about Obama as a president not to bash conservative ideals

unityskater

Fox News has nothing to do with my opinions on conservative ideals (I'm not neither conservative, nor liberal. Way to jump to conclusions). Every literate conservative I know does NOT rely on Fox News as a reputable news source. I have researched MANY of their so-called "factual" reports, and have found slanted and completely incorrect information many, many times. Fox News is produced the way it is because it generates revenue, not to give accurate information.

I know i wasn't assuming anything about your political views I was commenting on your remark about Fox News, this thread is about our views on Obama as a president not about Fox New's view

My comment WAS related to Obama and the wave of paranoia surrounding him. You took that I was insulting conservative ideals, when I never even dropped the word "conversative." Can we move on now?

Actually before this whole spill happened he was trying to to push for more offshore drilling

He spent all of that money... money into the trillions, and it still hasn't helped. Obama said the unemployment would be something like 8% MAX... and it was around 11% at some point, I believe. That stimulus worked like a charm...

Of course he is. Everyone thought he was going to be the second coming and... we're still in the same economic crisis, if not worse 2 years later.

Are we talking about the same president of the United States?

You don't have to have car insurance, since you don't have to have a car. And you are only required to have liability.. because you affect other people on the road.

Hopefully they'll eventually be like pet rocks, where people see them and think, "Wow, I can't believe those were actually popular at one point. How lame." Still, if I see any Obama plates, i'll smash them in the most dramatic fashion possible and make a huge scene. 8)
