Cut spending maybe? Good thing the Dems want to attach more fat onto the current refund plan, adding more spending to the budget. Yipee!LukeAF24

- If you were to have this amount in dollars and convert it to pennies, the stack of pennies would span the distance between the Earth and Jupiter. I will post the math if you would like. - Everyone in the United States is $30,235.72 in debt. - Most of the debt is comprised of health services, such as medicare. - The Congress is currently looking at passing legislation that will grant $300 to individuals with incomes under $75,000, so that we will spend it, in hopes that we will stimulate the economy. (Where are we borrowing the money from to get this? -- China. -- What will the general public buy with this money? -- iPhones? ;) ) What do you think we should do in order to help bring ourselves and our nation out of debt?CptJSparrow
Well personally I think Ron Paul is some form of a solution. He's the only candidate I have seen addressing the economy issue so aggressively.
If my Business teacher's a credible source of answers, than nothing. Unless every country in the world were willing to give our government the money to get out of debt, we'll always be in debt. It's been rising since the late 1700s so... yeah.scorch-62Economics is not my field of expertise by any means, but how would we fare if we opened our own oil reserves to the global market and used the revenue to help put the American people to work by building new nuclear power plants and managing them? Think of all the new jobs we could have: France, the country with the cheapest electricity in Europe, is 80% nuclear, while we are approximately 20% and declining, with no new nuclear power plants in decades -- and with only two crises in history, internationally. To be honest, I also do not understand why the government pays for health services, the greatest contributor to our debt.

but why, thats my point, who goes and see how bad our debt is, and asks themselves, I wonder what it would look like if we paid it off by stacking pennys on top of each other, then looking to see if it could reach any other planetsI just would like to point out that right now with large companies making record profits, while they have huge tax cuts.. The economy is sitll hurting.. Apparentlyt his a is a wrong strategy to take.. Also I would like to point out that the privatization of this war in Iraq is disgusting.. Not only has war profiteering gave record profits to numerous companies, as well as failure in inteilligence which has costed lives.. But the comapnies are charging the United States ABSURD amounts for simplistic services.. My personal favorite is how the United States is charged $99 for each load of laundry.
Also I would like to point out historical events on Spain in the 1300-1700's time.. After finding gold from the Mayan empire Spain became immensely rich.. They bought numerous things from OTHER countries instead of using the capital to invest in the goods in services in their own countries.. You know what happened? Spain collapsed as a super power. Not saying the United States will follow this path.. But it is a possibility where we are spending so much money in China as well as other areas.

Look at companies such as Haliburon and Titan, they are making record profits by ripping the US off over there.. Infact many believe alot of these companies are main reason for numerous intelligence blunders have happened over there.. Oh lets not forget they also had blunders where $10 billion liquid cash "disapeared"... The guy in charge's response? "You know $10 billion isn't that much when you look at it all bricked up being carried by a FORK LIFT"..
These comapnies are making insane profits yet our economy is preparing its self for a possible recession.

you said that George W. Bush is personally profiting from this war. you need to provide a source. If you cannot do this, I can only assume that what you are saying is pure bull****He quite possibly is.. Now this doesn't mean he went to war on this pretense.. But it does mean he went with privatizing numerous aspects of original military roles to this companies which he may hold stock shares in.. The mere fact that he dodges every question or critisim about this facet in the war is awfully suspect as well.. Hell for the LONGEST time private contractors were IMMUNE to law over there.. Meaning if they killed a few people they would just be sent home.. Of course they could come back the next week being contracted by another company..

Read it buddy.. It clearly shows why private corporations should not be allowed into military affairs specially ones that involve intellgience.. Because in the end the business is after one thing.. profits.

I agree that we should move to nuclear power and I also think we could move to electric cars. But opening up our oil reserves to the world would probably last a very very short time.
