This weekend I went hiking and camping through Teton County in Montana. I stopped to take a picture of some scenery, and there's a beam of light shining down at the end of the trail. It wasn't there when I took the picture. What in the hell caused this?

It's called a glare on the lens.

I think it's a lens glare. It happens............Or, it could be Jay and Silent Bob hanging out with God and Loki.

Looks like a very weak (is it considered a weak or strong...I dunno, anyway) rainbow. Look at the left side of the light. I see faint colors, purple being the prominent and farthest left.

probably was a beam of light that only happend for 1/1000 of a second or something and you're camera took the picture right at that second, and you never noticed.

doesnt look empty in the background, and al it takes is a lil cloud, hell doesnt even need a cloud just depends on how bright/clow the sun is and what not, i havea simaliar pic i jsut took today on my cell
