It depends. The Christmas Tree is a beacon: wherever you place it is where he goes, and no where else. If I discover him in the same room as the tree, I'd give him a thumbs up and let him be on his way. If I found him anywhere else, he's obviously an impostor.
my dad is a cop and has medals for being a good shot, we got lots of guns. if a guy popped out of my fire place i'd probably shoot him in the foot, or my dad would, and then maybe pop one in a reindeer and stuff it. we would force santa to keep pulling things out of his bag and giving us cool stuff and then hijack the sled and go on a joy ride.
