Mine is definitiviely at the moment metalcore, although i once like power metal (Dragonforce, sonata arctica, Helloween, Rhapsody, Hammerfall, stratovarius, gamma ray, etc) What is yours?
Melodic Death Metal (At The Gates, In Flames, Sacrilege) or Melodic Black Metal (Dissection, Windir, Catamenia). However, my favorite band is actually Agalloch and you can't throw them into a single genre.

It's completely true, there are tons of people on this forum, such as myself, who don't consider the "core" genres to be actual metal, as they are hardcore with some metal elements.

I tried death metal, but it just sounded dead to me. i didn't feel THE PASSION. I prefer really energetic songs. the only bands that i listen to that could be anywhere near death metal are In flames (only from Colony onwards though) and i got into Heaven Shall burn which is apparently deathcore. I reckon this is cause i kind of got into metal by listening to popular hard rock/ alternative metal stuff though like papa roach. Although the first time i realised i like metal was with the power metal...

Hmm... have you checked out Death, Bolt Thrower, Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, or Bloodbath?

I tend to enjoy alot of types of Metalcore best. I like alot of different types though ^^

wtf there are multiple types of metalcore now? this subgenre needs to be stopped before there is brutal metalcore, melodic metalcore, depressive metalcore, symphonic metalcore, progressive metalcore, groove metalcore, metalcore core , grind metalcore , god forbit we ever get stoner or doom metalcore.. or the worst.. DRONE METALCORE.

I guess I'm not very accepting of NOT liking Whoracle/Jester Race while at the same time you like Colony.... Cause they are so much alike. I mean if you're not going to enjoy Whoracle, you won't like Colony either. Whatever though, I'll leave you alone now.

Agreed. 100%...With emphasis on Amon Amarth and Ensiferum...Another really underrated genre is "celtic metal" or something, it mixes celtic music and metal that's all I know...it sounds so unique and awesome, but I'm also a fan of celtic music. I think the band is Fiintroll or something along those lines that I really like.
