Normally I would agree. But when a politician pushes a "family values" agenda as a huge part of his platform, yet has never lived up to these values in his own life it becomes an issue.
I follow the elections closely and Newt Gingrich has never made social conservatism the primary or secondary issue of his campaign. What people in SC have voted on is the ability for Newt to convey their argument so much better than Romney of the other viable candidate. This issue of Newt and affairs has been explored and known for quite some time now with Conservatives, and they don't hold it as much against Newt as in the past. They are looking for a strong debater against Obamawho can make the best case for a one term presidency. And I believe that Newt Gingrich would be the best one to do that. On the other side they are too consumed with that and ignoring the electability factor.
