Anybody have any ideas?
Preferably something possitive. Every symbol tied to socialism in western society.. is some how negative.

This is very true and very unfortunate. Even the word socialism for some reason leaves a dirty taste in the mouth of Americans. It seems everyone was up in arms (not literally) against obama for being a "socialist". Although I'm sure half of these people didn't fully understand the term, the term itself sparks rage for whatever reason. Perhaps a new word should be used as well like "super awesome fun governement for the people!" or "SAFGP".
That, my friend, is called a dictator.http://vivirlatino.com/i/2008/09/hugo-chavez.jpg
Heres socialism at its best.

hhmmm not western, how about starving people/children in china.... great leap forwardno, that's not what I'm looking for. I need a friendly symbol that makes people feel good. It's going to be my campaign logo when I run for president and become the first socialist president in the history of the USA.http://vivirlatino.com/i/2008/09/hugo-chavez.jpg

After reading your views, you are too radical to even be mentioned as a candidate..

Center left means he's a moderate.
It's okay though. People who think Obama is even close to a Socialist or a Communist probably know nothing about politics ;)

I actually meant slightly more liberal then a moderate, but thank you. I am sick of wingnuts claiming Obama is a communist "AS BAD AS HITLER  I seriously doubt anyone who is not in the range of a moderate will ever get elected. No, I did not know that. I learn something new about Obama every day! :o:P
Nothing comes to mind at the moment. The combination of being tired, not particularly artistically oriented, and rather biased against socialism isn't too helpful. If I think of something, I'll let you know. I would suggest an symbol that succinctly shows progression gained through cooperative action. (if you want to gain a positive view from the west, I would suggest avoiding any connotations of economic coercion...)

I think a bipartisian president would be an awful idea. As much of a moderate rightist that I am, I see what indecisiveness does. We need centered people willing to consider all options, but at the end of the day they have to lean in some parties direction to get a decision.
Our government is slow enough as it is, we can't have a Chief Waffler.

Meh... It happened with Bush, it'll happen with Obama. Nothing will stop it from both sides. To be honest, I don't understand how hateful people can be toward the president. When we had Bush, people i knew just would say things about how he should be killed and bla bla bla... I hear the same about Obama too. I can't believe how people would actually wish harm upon them though even if you dont agree.

It is sad isn't it? Bush wasn't a very good president, but he was not as bad as everyone howled about However, I do believe Bush abused his powers and for that reason I strongly dislike the man.I don't think that would go over very well in the USA.[QUOTE="BumFluff122"]

no. Canada is capitalist but far more socialist than the US. That is what the US should be striving for. At least anyone who is serious about bringing more socialism to the US. If you use a symbol that signifies pure socialism more thna likely the residents of the US will see it as pushing communism.searching google images with the term socialism.. is really depressing. Everything is so negative.

(it's not "far" more socialist according to government spending to GDP ratios, although a fair portion of the U.S.'s goes to the military...) Except for the fact that the TC asked for a symbol representing socialism. Not Canadian-esque mixed economy. (which is mostly capitalist...)
Anyways, I need to find a symbol that positively portrays capitalism. The dollar $ign just doesn't cut it anymore...
that's the spirit. That one isn't too bad. Except, it reminds me of Wal-mart.. which isn't a good representation of socialism.I took the liberty to create a new symbol myself.
