[QUOTE="jlh47"][QUOTE="jlh47"][QUOTE="fourier404"][QUOTE="SuperVegeta518"][QUOTE="Decessus"][QUOTE="jlh47"]you're right. you know the chances of the universe coming together and working correctly like it si? it's like 700 trillion to 1. it does take a whole lot of faith to believe that lol.
fourier404
It's impossible to predict the probability of this universe coming into existence the way it is. There is no frame of reference to make such a statement.
It's also impossible to know if carbon dating works correctly because no one is that old, and yet they still use it.It's also impossible to know that all our cars won't blow up on Friday, December 14, 2007, at 5:13 PM PT, because nobody's seen what will happen on that day, yet I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a lot of people driving their cars home from work at that moment.
The thing is we are ALMOST 100% positive that our cars won't blow up, just as we're almost 100% sure that carbon dating works. Even once we have been around for 10 million years, all the times it "worked" may have just been coincidences anyway. You're logic can only be take so far before it becomes rediculous.
we haven't been around long enough to know if carbon dating works... untill then we have to go on FAITH that it does. kind of ironic, don't you think?
Sure, faith in overwhelming evidence, but I'll give it to you, that's still faith.
what overwhelming evidence? nothing. only faith.

dude evelution has many many many many many holes in it. do you know how we tell how old a fossil is? by how old the rock is. you know how we tell how old the rock is? by how old the fossil is.
we say the earth is 4.6 billion years old because we studied minerals for a little over a hundred years in controlled environments, and see how fast it decays to it's half-life.... that's how we know how old the earth is.... we don't take into effect the storms, erosion, or anything else...
Because studying the decay of isotopes of various elements isn't correct science... :|we've been studying them for what a little over a hundred years in CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENTS.... and we get 4.6 billion. it's guesswork. we don't know
Radioactive dating is accurate. the rate of decay of a radioisotope is determined by its mass and a physical constant. because we know this we can then extrapolate a graph to what in other circumstances would be laughable, because for astrophysics to work in any way, our constants stay constant.
I often wonder what creationists want from a transitional fossil. It seems they will accept nothing less than the back half of a dinosaur attached to the front half of a chicken. It is also ridiculous to propose that we have a lack of transitional fossils. even if there was a shortage the percentage of organisms is so small that it still would not be a problem.
In regards to macroevolution, why choose a species as a cut-off point. Our definition of a species is a complete and total mess. One example for those who care enough to look it up is the scottish crossbill.
we've been studying them for what a little over a hundred years in CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENTS.... and we get 4.6 billion. it's guesswork. we don't know

It's clear from your posts that you don't understand how radioactive isotopes form, how and why they decays, and how we use them to estimate the age of something. Nor do you understand all of the evidence that is currently available to support the reliability of such dating methods.
[QUOTE="Yongying"][QUOTE="Tylendal"][QUOTE="twinsnakes91"][QUOTE="lmhansen"]Ok. Now, prove God.battlefront23
Science can't prove anything. It's called faith.
And what is faith?
Faith in what? Faith in a mystical being, that you only heard about because some guy claimed to be his son, and then through a combination of tricks, coincidances, and stories exxagerated in the retelling eventually attained a status as a supernatural being. He's a 2000 year old Chuck Norris, that's about it.
Do you know what faith is to me?love and hate, hot and cold, black and white, night and day, good and evil, there are soo many things in this world that makes me believe that there is a god. I don't need religion to believe god exists.
Evoultionists place just as much faith in their beliefs as we do... they'll just never admit it.
wow, just wow. we have faith? sorry, but we have evidence, and LOTS of it. ubiquitous genes, redundant pseudogenes, transposons, transitional fossils, endogenous retroviruses, human chromosome 2, and quite a lot moreI'm sick of this BS. Evolution is a THEORY, which means scientists don't believe it's the truth to end alltruths, but it's the theory with the best evidence to support it. But when we can't provide undeniable proof, certain religious folks shoot it down. But when we ask them to provide evidence for God, they fall back on "It's all about faith." No, you don't get to do that, provide physicalevidence for your theories or stop attacking others.
PS: Nobody knows beyond a shadow of a doubt how and when life was created, so stop being so damned smug.

Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it's false.[QUOTE="lmhansen"]And where do YOU say the Earth came from?twinsnakes91
God made it.
So... how are humans related to monkies since we are 99.9% gene related? God made it this way?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science. I've taken a class on evolution and advanced classes on cellular and molecular biology. I also believe in God. Evolution is not something you do or do not believe in. It's simply a scientific process. It should be taught in schools as such, because it definately occurs.
You are not arguing about evolution, but instead, the origin of the world. That's a philosophical/ theological debate, not a scientific one, and has nothing to do with the process of evolution.
Sigh.
Just a simple question to you who do not believe in god:
How do you think the world / universe got created? Did space evolve from a pool of water too?
Selrath
Well there is the theory of parallel universes within the 11th dimension. Which caused the big bang. Then there is the birth of the sun. Creation of the solar system. It would take long time to explain all that. Unlike say religion, you can just say bam! god created this and that.

yeah... you can throw pretty much any question at him and he can reply "God made it that way :)" and when you challenge that as a load of BS he'll say something more stupid like "well at least im not going to hell"

or is that you on both forums...
Also, what would evidence of evolution prove against god anyway. So it may debunk christianity, that's not the only 'religion' out there you know...

It was 7:30 in the morning when I posted that...haha...ha.
Here's some evidence proving god:
-God is perfect love, so if you love enough you can feel his love.
-God is inside you and me
-God is in the tv
-God is in the bible
-If there was no god, do you really think we would love each other so much?
-God created love, happiness, and good nature
-Why do you think people go to hell when they die? Duh, it's because they don't believe in God.
-Science has gone too far. This ends now.
LOL, that's actually me. notice that I put the evidence in quotes "evidence" against evolution. read the whole postDid you copy that from the christian forum here:
