I'm guessing you didn't feel pain because your adrenaline was probably going (it does seem like a scary situation), and he sounds to me like he was drunk which may have weakened his kicks.
Yep, i'd wouldn't be walking that way any more. Try not to take walks by yourself man, especially around that area. Back when i was younger, this guy would have been left half dead on the sidewalk. Yeah, i used to be like that if anyone messed with me. Now i'm older, so i think about consequences. It sucks when your older, you always think first. But seriously, don't bother with that mofo, forget about it and move on. And don't go back that way.
@themajormayor: It seems you responded in a good manner. I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation, the smart thing would be to escape if I could, but maybe I would have hit back. If I saw the kick coming I probably would have blocked it or moved out of the way (blocking would probably work better for the stomach kick and moving out of the way would work better for the leg kick).
Fist can be good to defend but it's not recommended to use first for fighting, I pretend fist brake easy.
If you had a weapon like a knife, you could have use it if it was for you impossible to escape. I think the best thing to do in this case is just run and escape.
I think you did not felt anything because of the mental blast you got by the surprise. Similar as adrenaline...
The bigger man walks away, just like you did. To everyone claiming they would of punched him... that's easy to say over the internet and hey, even if you did punch him what would that have achieved? Let's say that guys mate had a knife in his back pocket or a gun and when the TC started fighting back, the other guy stabs him and he loses his life over something so small, what then? I applaud you for walking away TC, you get to live another day and avoid a situation that could have turned dangerous.
