I'm from new england and, to a degree, I have seen what you're talking about. There's a general level of arrogance suggesting that we know better than everyone else... of course, I have met a lot of very smart people in this area who probably contribute to that perception, and I do often think they're right. :D
Anyway, once I got out in the world and met some friendly southerners, I realized I might've had some preconceptions. And as a side note, I think the southern accent can be adorable on the right girl.
Seriously though, I admit that we sometimes stereotype people from the south. Still, and this is just a guess, but don't you guys stereotype us northerners too? :P
jodamn
I think thats just how people are in the Northeast. I'm a New Yorker and I know a lot of people around here have the same arrogant attitude.
Oh yeah we stereotype yall all the time. Like, "yankees can't hold alcohol like a southerner", and that's pretty much it. But we do hate the way some of yall talk, like saying "wicked" and the accent in general. But we just do it to get a few laughs, we don't actually think half the things we say.I'm from new england and, to a degree, I have seen what you're talking about. I was playing withsomebodyfrom England in Halo 3 the other day. He was doing badly so I keeped saying "Don't make me save your ass like I did in WW2. He got upset :D.Thechaninatorbut did you really save his ass in WWII? or did you lie?

I also made fun of this guy from texas who was being a jerk. I was like "don't make me kick your ass like the north did in the civil war" andI was like; "YEEEEEE HAAAAA texas is number 2 in everything, and is responsible for both aids and cancer" it was quite amusing.
I love xbox live
I met this guy in high school that moved down here to Mississippi from the north. We became fast friends but he always made fun of everyone he met cuz of their accent and always says he hated living down here cuz everyone is so dumb. Now he failed out of high school and I graduated and headed to college. Hmm...Viedricmississippi does suck, though. at least the part i lived in. and then there's meridian.
actually we killed more people than yall did. we only had to surrender because we were running out of supplies. if we had the supplies we totally would've won1stCommandoone of the only reasons the south lasted as long as it did was because of lee. that man was a tactical genius. they were outnumbered and out gunned, but they had a brilliant general.
Notice that English people like to think they are better than Scottish and Irish people, New England is mainly filled with English decendents, Alabama will have more Scottish and Irish correct me if im wrong, the legacy lives on does it not? Just sayingwizard90
I've never been to Alabama but there are a hell of a lot more people in Boston that are Irish/Scottish/German than there are English. Seems like there's a Catholic Church on every corner.
And I don't understand all the Boston sport team hate in here. I know that people dislike the bandwagon fans here who unlike myself have only gone to Sox/Patriots/Cetlics games in the past 6 years, but what is the rest out of? Jelousy? If anyone can inform me, please feel free. And don't respond with "teh Patriots are cheaterz"
I myself have been to every home game of the Red Sox Sinse I was 9(1985) and Patriot sinse 1991, and I do my best to go to every Bruins game. I don't give a damn about the Celtics however, because I hate basketball.

Stop saying ya'll, that will help... I can't help laughing when I hear "ya'll". And I live in the South, but sound like I am from the North... not the typical New York accent, it's hard to describe, but I definitely don't have the stereotypical redneck speech.instantdeath999It's how I talk ok? It's not offensive. It's how people around me talked my entire life so it's how I talk.Â

Ummm, aren't all of you guys directly related? Jk, but if you really have a problem with people stereotyping you then don't type y'all all the time.

I know that what you're doing isn't offensive or anything, but when you're doing it, you're pretty much guranteeing that you will make a bad impression with anyone who isn't southern. Using a word that many people consider to be a token sign of southern stupidity, and then acting surprised when people talk to you like your stupid is just plain...stupid.

Yeah, your right, sorry.
Anyway, relevent to this topic, just ignore them... it's not your fault that they are ignorant, though it doesn sound like they were just messing around.
Seems like New England, the North, and South, have a rivalry. Times like these i'm glad I live on the West Coast, although there are some immigrant problems, it's cool.
Ya know when I can I want to move to Central America it seems like a place to get away from it all.
