Okay, so right now I'm still in high school and have very little actual knowledge on evolution. So basically every now and then I'll talk to someone who is better educated than myself and think "Hey this guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about! Evolution must/must not be true!" So I decided to take some arguments I heard from one of my educated friends yestarday online, and see what you guys thought.

My friend basically had three points which he said disprove evolution.

1: There are very few skeletons found that actually show a relationship between humans and monkeys, and most of the ones that are found are only partial skeletons. If evolution took place over thousands/millions of years shouldn't there be plenty of skeletons showing the change between monkeys and walking upright humans?

2: The ocean level rises about an inch a year. Even without humans the world would have completely flooded over the course of billions of years.

3: He said that because carbon levels are constantly changing the method of carbon dating is completely unreliable, and so far no fossils that went through hydrogen dating were older than 10,000 years.

Anyway, all of this stuff sounds really reasonable to me, but I'd hate to go by what one high school student had to say about it. Thoughts?

if that were true(which it is not) the earth would not even have had land on it. Evolution is right and does not disprove god in anyway,i my self believe in both.

Carbon dating is unreliable but not used. Typically, radiometric dating is used

many people get the misconception that evolution states humans came from monkeys when all it actually says is that humans and monkeys have a common ancestor, which isn't all that farfetched seeing the amoun of vestigel organs we share with monkeys as well as other animals. The third one i cannot talk about because i don't have that much knowledge about.

I tried to find some evidence about how the human embryo evolves in the womb with gills and fish like appendages. I found non-concise arguments from both sides so I concluded the internet is only their to find the evidence you already believe.

So I look at it this way. If evolution doesn't exist, then either god created man or aliens visited this planet at some time. I see no evidence of god and no evidence of aliens (except for crysis), but I do see some evidence for evolution.

number 2 is completely wrong, in order for there to be a rise of an inch a year there would have to be an outside source supplying earth with water, theres simply not enough water to cover the whole world. especially seeing as how a lot of the earths history has been marked by ice ages where most water is frozen this statement doesnt really make much sense.

prepare to have these points thoroughly destroyed

lets examine these points

1: There are very few skeletons found that actually show a relationship between humans and monkeys, and most of the ones that are found are only partial skeletons. 3 points: 1: we have several hundred hominid fossils. 2: fossilization is an extremely rare event, and 3: we have lots of molecular evidence (genetics/DNA) that humans and apes share a common ancestor

2: The ocean level rises about an inch a year. Even without humans the world would have completely flooded over the course of billions of years.darkmoney52

im pretty sure this is because of melting polar ice caps, and this ususally happens in a cycle

3: He said that because carbon levels are constantly changing the method of carbon dating is completely unreliable, and so far no fossils that went through hydrogen dating were older than 10,000 years.darkmoney52

carbon-14 dating has absolutely nothing to do with establishing the age of the earth or the evolutionary history of life. for dating layers of rock, we date igneous rocks with radio-isochron dating, which is an extremely reliable method of dating rocks.

Anyway, all of this stuff sounds really reasonable to me, but I'd hate to go by what one high school student had to say about it. Thoughts?
