Here is my solution to the problem, stop having people sit in classes for eight hours a day!  How about people bring their own food?  Just not have schools have any part in food.  If you got a job, your employer does not feed you.  Except they might have a vending machine right near ya, so watch out!  I read an article that basically says that sitting around for too long causes your heart rate to stay low for too long that it can not go back up no matter how hard you try.  Oh here it is http://www.cracked.com/article_18654_6-ways-your-office-literally-killing-you_p2.html  You can thank me all for saving your miserable lives that probably been at jeopardy.

The problem is not that the food is healthy, it's how awful and disgusting it is. I just graduated HS in May, so I know how terrible lunches are. The portion sizes are too small, and the food is downright nasty. It doesn't look good and it doesn't taste good. If the food were higher quality, more kids would be eating it.

Portion sizes are fine being small.

A major problem with U.S. obesity is that portion sizes have grown.

At my high school, we were given the same portion sizes as they would give the elementary school kids. You can't tell me a 12th grader can eat the same amount as a 4th grader and be satisfied. Of course, this depends on the school, but that is how it was at mine.

And the worst part is, lunches were still high very high in calories.

My Sophomore year of High School they started the whole healthy foods thing. After that time I bought 2 lunches ever single day. The tiny little portions they gave me didn't even begin to give me the fuel I needed to give me energy for swim practice after school. All the healthy eating initiative is is lowing portions. The food is still high in fat and bad carbs. You can make a full meal that is good for you.

Good, it should be the parent's responsibility to have their child eat healthy. It also doesn't help that the government subsidizes junk food directly and indirectly.

Problem is though that most parents don't know how to eat healthy either. Even people who think they are eating healthy. They are usually victims of highly processed shit with a healthy label on it.
