Someone Needs to Save the Souls Working at Gamestop

I normally don't go to Gamestop to get my games but I wanted to get a game and some used games so I went there.

So the desk clerk pushes for pre-orders, and the way they do it is so robotic. I was buying the game, and this other girl behind the counter said

Imagine the following line delivered as if reading from a book and while the person is staring off in a direction that is not towards me"

"Oh did you pre-order this game...?"

"Because if you pre-ordered it you will get cool new things such as, if you were to pre-order Madden you will get a t-shirt, and BOY WOW, Call of Duty is coming out and you get a free unlockable weapon, how ...coool... is that? Oh BOY, because if you don't it's going to be limited, BOY OH BOY"

"Ya, so like, and if you do, you get promotions I mean who wouldn't want that!"

*By then i have made my purchase and asked* "Oh do you guys have old dreamcast games?

"NO"

Pre ordering is useless. They NEVER run out of the game. Even when GTA4 came out, my brother just went to gamestop after school and they had plenty of copies.

Yeah one time time this guy told me i couldn't run Crysis Warhead on my laptop... and i told him... "Well The original Crysis plays fine on my laptop."

Most of the time you have a-holes that think they know everything. But I know some cool guys that work at a couple gamestops and i talk to them... But for the most part i just don't go there.

i used to live right up the street from a locally owned game store, it had a very fitting name too lol "A better game store" i knew the owner pretty well, and i asked him what he thought of gamestop, he said theyre a bunch of ripoff artists, and i brought up the whole gutting thing and hes like yeah if you order a brand new game breaking the seal should be a part of the game as well, and the guy never once asked me if i wanted to preorder a game, he said himself if you want the game youll ask to order it not having it preordered shoved down your throat.

Preorders are lame and a complete waste of time and money. Gamestop may run out of copies, but I can practically guarantee the huge Walmart or Best Buy down the street won't, or you could just order online. You're basically commiting yourself to having to wait in line on launch day at a small store that is likely to run out of copies.

I've never understand alot of the hate GS gets. I've never had one bad experience buying a game there, most of the time they're friendly and nice people, who know alot about games. Maybe it's just the ones I go to.LZ71

I've rarely had any problems at a Gamestop and I buy most of my games there. All the pushing of pre-orders is just the same as people robotically asking if you'd like fries with that or "do you want that in a large?" and is no big deal. Pre-orders and trade-ins are abig part of why Gamespot is still in the market and I'm assuming that with the recent inclusion of pre-orders Gamestop exclusives that they are spending a large amount of money to make their store THE destination. This of course puts more pressure on the employees to justify the expense by picking up more pre-orders then they had in the past. A lot of them are also first time employees and their delivery might not always be the best. They're just kids and I cut them the average amount of slack and rarely encounter any problems that keeps me from going back.
