Before I start I start I will say that I am an Egyptian Christian living in Canada so I probably have some bias but here we go.

A few days, on Orthodox Christmas Eve, a group of muslims had a mass shooting at a church killing 9 people and injuring several others. This has caused lots of controversy in Egypt because the law isn't taking any actions against the shooters because they are Islamic. There was this woman ranting on this Arabic news channel just now and this is what she said, loosely translation:

"What the United States needs to understand is that in Islam we do not value the human life. When we kill our own people to murder you, you shouldn't fight back. We are doing what we think is right. It angers me when they cannot understand this."

I'm honestly shocked that there are people who have this mentality that killing each other is a good thing. What do you guys think about what this woman said?

So there's no value in human life. . .

Yet God took the time to create it?

These people need proper Islamic education, their ignorance of their own religion is astounding.

Islam teaches religious tolerance, especially towards Jews and Christians because they are People of the Book, and that there is no compulsion in faith. Muslims are also not allowed to defile houses of worship or take life unnecessarily.

It was reported that when the Caliph, Umar ibn al Khattab, conquered Jerusalem, he visited a Church. When it came time to pray, he decided to go outside and pray rather than do it in the church because he feared that Muslims would forcibly turn it into a mosque later on. To this day, that church still stands and there was a mosque built next to it.

Islam is not a bloodthirsty religion, but it is dumb and ignorant people like this that use Islam as a scapegoat who are on the front page of the news rather than the millions and millions of peaceful Muslims out there.

It`s wrong to generalize an entire religion this way, she is just the extremist. The extremists are the scary and disturbing ones, not the entire religion.

Without religion these nuts would find another reason to kill each other.

The problem is the intolerant nuts, not the religion.

Muhammad was ousted out of his home in Makkah. When he moved to Madinah, the people in Makkah, along with neighboring tribes, kept attacking the Muslim community. Therefore, they were forced to fight back. The city of Makkah is important because it is the holiest city in Islam, that's why it was conquered. The actual conquest of Makkah was relatively peaceful compared to the battles that were fought before.

Muhammad did not begin hostilities. And, relative to the general air at the time, Muhammad made some actually quite substantial advances in terms of the treatment of the poor and such like. The idea that he was a bloodthirsty murderer is completely unsupported by the historical accounts we have of what he did (and, equally important, what he did not do).

No offense, but if you're going to form an opinion on Islam and Muhammad, at least make sure your historical knowledge is complete and accurate.

Honestly people don't freak out at Islam for what one psycho lady says on TV. Ever seen "The most hated family in America?" It was a BBC special about an extremist christian church that protested soldiers funerals with signs like "God hates the *** army" They said they were glad that the American soldiers died because they defended a government that is tolerant of homosexuals.

It happens in every religion.

It is hard to say what is right about it also. I don't know anything about Islamic beliefs, & I won't take the statements made by the woman TC quoted to represent the majority, but her beliefs are sickening, heartless & wrong in my eyes. What is right about thinking a life is worthless, unless she believes the same for her own. And she is angered we don't understand it? I'm disgusted she expects us to.

Edit: After reading the TC post again, I noticed she says they shouldn't fight back because they believe it is right. She claims they don't value human lives, yet feels they are wrong for fighting back. Does that mean they do value the lives of their own? Again, I don't know much about Islamic beliefs & if these are the views of the majority, and I know religion is a touchy subject, but I just can't fathom how these beliefs can be looked upon respectfully by anyone but themselves.

What she is talking about is the Arab muslims attitude towards other religions. There is alot of discrimination in the middle east against particular racial groups and religions.I have lived in saudi arabia for 8 years and I have seen how they treat expatriates and african arabs.Arabs think they are right in everything they do so no wonder that woman is ranting.Muslims from other regions of the world are not so arrogant.

Islam is a religion of peace, however, like Christianity, people take it way to far and twist the supposed holy words of God into the most evil and corrupt passages that they then use to justify their hate, violence, and actions.

I know that even if there weren't religion, people would still find insane reasons to fight each other, but I can't stop and help but think it would be on a smaller scale. Regardless, the women should be forced to take her own life, since apparently it has no value.

well, let me make it clear, if people learn and apply islam way "correctly" then that kind of action wouldn't be happened. you might be surprised but even these kind of "moslem" was already mentioned in the past, they are called khawarij. terrorist included. they are take the wrong action because their understanding is off.

for you to know, islam also teach how to interact with other religion.

nintendoman562

It's not surprising. Not at all.

We can talk all we want about certain religious extremists not valuing life (whether it's a suicide bomber, or certain christian sects who'd rather see their children die than give them a blood transfusion). But you see this attitude all over the place. Just a general hatred of anyone who is different, and a desire to see them suffer.

Hell, I'm sure you've all probably seen people swerve in the road. Not in order to AVOID an animal in the road, but in order to KILL an animal in the road. It's just like that scene from The Toxic Avenger, except substituting your family dog in place of a crippled and mentally retarded boy. People do that because pain and death gives them more pleasure than mercy and kindness. And they take it out on whoever they can take it out on.

This is no more than another example of how people don't value life, and often like to be complete jerks. Yeah, it sucks, but it's not exactly a new thing. This attitude persists in varying degrees of awfulness, all over the world. And this attitude has existed for about as long as humans have walked the Earth.

This is no different than hearing a KKK member saying that blacks don't deserve to breathe the same air as whites. Some things just don't change.
