[QUOTE="Birdy09"]Ah the ammount of denial in this thread when his point is obvious: 1) Only a few crazy cultists have had any visions or hearings, or any direct "link" to god.... these "blessed" people making up stories in thier basement. 2) Convenient that within 2000 years there has been no interaction, and the infamous "Coming Soon" will be ongoing forever. God and the "magical" version of jesus is even less likely than Xenu..... both as made up as eachother.zmbi_gmr

I have met a wonderful woman in my life who wasn't a crazy cultist like you stated, and she was able to receive visions from the Lord. I could try to convince you that her gift was genuine, but you wouldn't have any reason to believe me. So I will just leave it at that.

I once knew a girl was often spoken to by God. Turns out she was just schizophrenic.

[QUOTE="UT_Wrestler"]Okay, we get it, you think you have a 160 IQ because you don't believe in God.UT_Wrestler

I've seen you post stuff like this in a few different threads now. Why the hostility? The thread starter did nothing other than attempt to start a civil debate. If you don't want to participate you don't have to, but there's no need to come in and be rude with no provocation.

Because the threads all have the same message: believing in God is stupid and anyone who does so is an idiot. The provocation started with the original post.

He was civil and respectful in his post. Too bad you can't be. But I know how much some Christians don't like having their beliefs questioned.

I noticed something peculiar about Christianity that I never really stopped to fully comprehend. Every supposed supernatural occurrence, every direct interaction with god, every pivotal action of god, every cosmic battle for mankind's fate.......... has either happened in the past or is going to happen in the future. This has been the state of Christianity for two millennia, if not its whole history. Isnt that just convenient, especially for the church? God never acts in the present. Everything important either has happened long ago or is going to happen in far future. Ask yourself why that is. Why would god feel no need to interact during the world-shaping events of the past few centuries? why is is waiting so long to end the world? why did he only choose to interact with superstitious desert nomads and the like? doesnt all of this strike you as odd?

arbitor365

Um, you're wrong. Christianity teaches that God is constantly interacting with us. However His Revelation is complete in Christ Jesus. hence, there will be no new Revelation that would supercede what is already revealed, any new private or public revelation is just a reminder of what is already revealed.

God is working through you, right now. Pay attention, or ignore, at will.Protoford
Sure is, he just reached my lower intestine, won't be too much longer now before he works right on through me.

Your post made me laugh. What I'm referring to is much more different than that, but I do understand your point.

Supernatural occurrences happen every day, especially outside America. Obviously the news isn't gonna report them since they don't wanna offend the poor wittle atheist.

Well I'd say that since God is eternal, omipresence, etc., he does not think like you do. This past few centuries of history are like a day to him really. God sees everything, and he knows what is going to happen. He also shapes events so that he is ultimately glorified. If that makes sense...

And God could be working now as we speak. He probably is. We just can't notice it with our feeble human perspective.

The Patriots were being owned in every way possible last night, but a few huge flukes (some the biggest in NFL history) let them beat the Packers.

That was god, and he was giving me the middle finger. :xfidosim

Maybe God is doing something right now and we're all too blind to notice it until it's in the past. Then the all-powerful hindsight kicks in and we realize what's happening.

Sure he is. In the times of yore he would literally appear to you in a burning bush or send fire from the sky or pal around with you in the garden, but nowadays? Not so much. Oh he has plans to come again in the clouds and everyone is supposed to see him and he is going to have a sword coming out of his mouth and a robe dipped in the blood of the saints, but as of right now hes kinda shy and prefers to act like he doesn't even exist!

Hebrews 1:1-2

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

Depends on what you want to define as far future, just about every phase of Christianity has been through a phase or had a movement that thought those events that are supposed to take place in the future were going to take place in the immediate future. Hell, Christianity was spawned because of people who thought that events described in the Torah that were going to take place in the far future were actually taking place in the present. Then of course you get people who argue that supernatural events are taking place in the present like seeing the Virgin Mary in a puddle on the street. As an atheist I agree, but there are always people who will find some explanation.

I didn't say that they were, I said that I'd rather see them do so. This includes not reporting so-called "supernatural" events.

God won't interfere with them events because man would not learn a damned thing if we were always saved from the position we as a global population put ourselves into.

Man gets itself into the trouble it's in, and so man must get itself out of it.
