First of all, yes i do know the correct meaning of ironic, you'll see why i chose this headline.

So i got home after watching Indy IV (Great movie) and the damn wheel of my 2GB ipod Nano stopped working... Again. So i hit it and i worked for another 5 minutes. I got pissed at one point and threw one of my 'mad-but-not-really' fits, where i am mad but have a straight face and don't scream profanities, it's just that i break things. so i took my needle nosed plier and beat the **** out of my ipod, focusing on the damn wheel. After 10 minutes of doing that i put my headphones (Sennheiser PMX 60, love them) in and pressed play, it worked... And not just that the wheel worked perfect and the clicky sound had come back (Which had not happened in weeks). I was left in confusion, but i was happy, it still worked and today I'm getting a new Mp3 player so i can have the joy of destroying the ipod with a hammer. Has this ever happened to you?

The irony in this text: The ipod worked better have 'breaking' it, instead of fixing it.

Well of course it worked, as we all know kicking it always fixes it, and this is a perfect example of "kicking" it. Although you used plyers, its still the same.

ipod nano i bought off craigslist afte a year started not working. The wheel stopped working and it was all messed up for the past week so i just got fed up with it. Took the thing, bent it in half and threw it in the garbage at work for electronic stuff. Ill just buy another one for 50 bucks like i did the first time rather than spending that much to fix it.

Not necessarily. If he was intending to break the ipod then why use a tool. It would be irony IF he smashed it...and then it worked. As he wrote this...he was working on the part that was not functioning. No real irony present.

He used a tool to stab the damn thing, not the tools intended purpose, thus the irony prevails, even if it isn't particularly good irony.

an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected.

That is the definition in regard to this post. I'd imagine taking a tool to something that isn't working is for the purpose of fixing it.

You, however, can stop with your "attempted" insults.

I'm not attempting to insult you, I simply don't see why you feel compelled to argue a pointless issue. Is it not ironic to take that which should repair, use it in an attempt to break, and as a result accidentally repair a broken object? It's like double irony, we should be impressed.

Yeah, I have a compulsive and agressive behavior, it has happened so many times.

Why would you want to break it ? Wouldn't that just make things worse?Ninja-Hippo

If you were like me, you'd know how it feels, sure, in theory it sounds stupid, but when you are full of rage and outta your mind, it doesn't matter.

I've destroyed things so many times, and my head isn't the same after so many smacks...
