I disagree with this assertion. They cost a lot of upkeep, they take up important time I could spend studying for my law finals, they eat of what little free time I have left, they nag a lot, they demand I use my phone, they eat my food when they're in my apartment, I have to buy nice clothes....the cons outweigh the pros from my calculation. To tell he truth I bet alot of us men don't find a reason why people love us or care about us. I've been asking that question for years of what people see in me to communicate with me. Guess I'll never know to tell the truth because even though I promise to protect the people I care about that is all I'm good for...*sigh*. You could possibly see a psychologist or therapist and try to get over some of these "standards" issues you are having. I personally don't see the harm in trying, one thing that stands out for me is that you seem scared that something bad "might" happen, which may or may not actually happen. That is the road you drive when you go in search of a romantic/sexual relationship, so either turn down a different street, or keep on truckin' and deal with any bumps when they come up the best you can.
