I don't care if you vote for the simpsons or south park because they are both great, but Family Guy is just simply not funny. AT ALL! Its random and pathetic. They spent like 2 minutes trying to get a freaking couch through a doorway on the star wars episode. I HATE Family Guy.
Futurama for me, it's just really smart writing there (compared to Family Guy), and Family Guy is dead last (especially the recent ones) for it's Manatee Gag abuse. South Park comes in second best for poking fun at world issues, and actually keeps it relevent to a plot.

If you want something smart, watch anime like Gankutsuou, Ergo Proxy and Ghost In The Shell where postmodernism and philosophia is at the heart of the serie... not some stupid american scatalogic cartoon!
Anime is the same thing as cartoon, just a different word. They are both animated so I see no difference ashide from the name.
