sony spent over $300 million dollars on production alone on this movie. heard this on the radio today. i cant wait until this movie comes out. spiderman is like one of my most favorite movie franchices ever. i remember i use to watch the cartoon back in the early 90s all the time.

I'm not sure how they could spend $300 Million on computer generated graphics. That's what a lot of that movie is.
The only reason they spent so much is for marketing. Any movie can be made for ALOT less if you think a bit. Then again, Sony isn't exactly known for thinking...
I hope it won't let me down, like The Condemned did....

It always SCREAMED horrible. The whole thing is basically a crappy remake of Battle Royale. Granted, it went down a reality TV skewering route. Only thing is...everything the movie supposedly bashes is exactly what WWE is.Â
I hope it won't let me down, like The Condemned did....

And actually, it is the most expensive movie ever made, if it really cost 300 million...Cleopatra, the previous record holder, cost 270 million in 1999 dollars.
300 million isnt worth it since the first 2 movies made about 400 each at most. the 3rd i wont expect ti make much moreDevouring_One

I just checked somewhere, it cost $258 million. :) I'm going to go see it, even though the third movie in most series is usually when it begins to suck.
 My point is Spider Man 2 grossed 373 million roughly in theaters.. Add this immense amount to retail dvd's, where most movies get the largest profit even over theaters and 258 million isn't as much as people think it is.

i seriously doub that dude. i mean come on unlike the first two movies were he had to fight only one villian in this one he has to fight three! new goblin, sand man, and venom, plus he will be the in the black spidey suit for part of the movie. man this movie is going to be crazy!
I don't know if it was said below, but I heard when all was said and done, the total production and adverstisment cost exceeded 500million for this movie. But the demand to see this movie is almost stronger than the second Spidey, so that is good. This could be the biggst Hollywood bomb, ever. I am pretty excited myself to see it. I really want to go to the Imax to view it.

That's basically what I heard. Cost was around $500 million (movie production+promotions). I've also read that presale of tickets was 3 times that of Spiderman 2.Â
That's such a waste of money and it doesn't even look good! Lord of the Rings, all three, only took that much and I'm way more impressed with them then anything Spiderman has thrown at me. I just don't like anything about the current movies. They should start over with brand new actors and directors and plots. Seriously!

Even if that crappy penguin move manages to gross more than Spider-Man 3 (yeah, right) It's still good for Sony; They're the producers & distrubitors of that film as well.

Interesting...It's ironic that the most expensive film of all time wasn't produced in the USA, and it wasn't in English. Considering inflation, that would make Spiderman 3 the 3rd most expensive film of all time.Â

dude what the hell? lotr was okay to me but the movies just fell flat to me on the last one i was looking for something a bit more epic at the end of the series. to say the least i was dissappointed when i saw the last one and to me the spiderman flicks were better to me.
