Source.

I see that Disney is thinking ahead. I think they have to since the Star Wars movies will receive the annual treatment for the next 6+ years. Hopefully Disney can catch Dave Fincher for one those SW films.

What are your thoughts of Rian Johnson? Any other directors and writers you would like to see be brought in to the mix?

He doesn't seem to have much of a history directing...'Looper' and a few episodes of 'Breaking Bad'. Having not seen Looper, and not being a fan of BB, it's hard to say whether he's a good fit for the role.

I think they should let John Carpenter direct the next two films - make star wars a real sci-fi flick! lol

Will be the first Star Wars film I ever cared about seeing. Still wish he'd so his own thing though.

He directed 3 great episodes of BB (Yes, "Fly" was a great episode, least I think so), so we'll see.

I have no idea who this guys is much less what he has done.

I lose faith that these movies are going to be any good with each news story I read and every rumor I hear.

Yes, yes, and yes. Glad to see someone else thinks so.

He directed Fly and Ozymandias, he's pretty good.

Not even his involvement can get me anticipated for this thing.

He'll probably be Emmy award winning director, Rian Johnson by time the Emmy's roll out.

But alas, I have no interest in Star Wars. I've never even watched the original series.

Looper was a good movie. I think he'll do well.

That's too much thinking ahead at the moment, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope Episode VII is something that reinvigorates the series and does it justice for a change. They should hire writers for a contingent plan, but they need to also be flexible based off the Episode VII's performance, really listen for what fans like, didn't like, how to give them what they want, and be ready to take that into consideration with regard to how Episode VIII is written and directed and produced.

Damn, an Emmy? I might have to re-think my skepticism.

Just get Lucas as far away from the movies as possible and I'll be happy.

Pretty much.

Quite optimistic about these movies partly on this basis. And Disney, do put out really high quality products, regardless of the "kiddie" argument.

This.

I'm just going to pretend the prequel trilogy never happened.

I have a strange feeling the only reason they picked him up is because he was highly praised for his work in Breaking Bad. He's done almost nothing else of note.

Came here to say this.

Not that it's a bad thing. I have liked what Disney has done with the Marvel universe, I'm hoping they'll reinvigorate the SW.

I've heard Rian Johnson wasn't very good. Someone I follow on Twitter noted that Looper had horrid plot holes.
