Which famous trilogy do you prefer?

I hated Star Wars. I also hated the first Lord of the Rings and the first half of the second movie though. But, the parts I liked in Star Wars were overshadowed by the rest of the crap in those movies. So I guess Lord of the Rings.
I like Lord of the rings better. I usually don't like alot of sci fi. But star wars games are much better then the lord of the rings xD
I don't like Star Wars at all so the obvious choice is LotR. I've seen the LotR trilogy at least 70+ times as compared to the Star Wars saga, its probably 11 times.

[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="martinX3X"]false mass effect>dragon ageOblivion>Every other game ever made (Mass Effect bores me btw) idk, i spent the majority of this month playing Oblivion and Mass Effect 2 to get all the achievements for them and let me tell you, Oblivion has aged horribly. obviously, i cant wait for Skyrim but ME3 is at the top of my list for games this year. but thats just meMedieval Fantasy > Sci Fi

I love both, but LOTR for me.

I know that we aren't supposed to discuss video games on OT, but I'm getting horribly tired of everyone freaking out over Oblivion.
I loved it when it came out, but looking back on it, it just doesn't hold up at all.
Oh, and Star Wars isn't even science fiction. It's a fantasy film set in space.

I don't freak out over Oblivion. It just happens to be my favorite game at the moment. But I know what you mean.Although Star Wars define my childhood I definitely consider the Lord of the Rings to better in terms of acting, directing, music and quality of screenplay.Meinhard1This, For this same reason i cant decide which movie i love more, Saving Private Ryan or Kelly's Heroes.
Lord of the Rings. The prequel trilogy really killed the Star Wars franchise for me (apart from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, those were good) for me and at least Tolkien showed restraint by not writing three novels on a bland, angsty Sauron going through puberty.

Back on topic. Star Wars > LOTR. Lord of the Rings uses the standerd fantasy formula (Though, Tolken invented it, so credit to him) while Star Wars shows the "good guys" are terrorists. My reasoning? The Rebels assassinated the beloved Emperor Palpatine, and Murdered hundreds of thousands of civilian workers when they destroyed Death Star 2. The evil side won in ROTJ, plain and simple.
It's a hard decision to make, but I'd say The Lord of the Rings Trilogy wins it for me. Even if I didn't include the Starwars prequels, LOTR would still win.
PlaneScape: Torment > Oblivion ;)

Palantas agrees. I spent a lot of time on Oblivion, and that game has a lot of problems. I developed nervous tick from playing it, where I have an uncontrollable urge to punch someone in the face who says "I saw a mudcrab the other day."

Or millions of people. The thing was big enough. Maybe it was mostly unihabited.

You and I are going to get along beautifly.[QUOTE="lordreaven"]You and I are going to get along beautifly.Palantas
Oblivion.
i liek Oblivion (with mods). Though i'll be honest, i bought teh Digital Deluxe on steam and found it came with all the DLC, and i noticed one particular one where enemy mages dropped spellbooks................I have never been so *********** before, as that should ahve been in game, and makes playing a wizard fun for once. But Morrowind is many times better (i did like Oblivions battle system more tbh, just it needs the fallout 3 level system to go with it to make sense, haven't played New Vegas yet btw). Please Log In to post.
