I'm not religious, could give a rats ass about Christmas. But this cup is the symbol of the path this country decided to head down when they started listening to pc thugs, and tried to be all inclusive without offending. The result is bland, vanilla looking, plain ass red cup(society).
I feel like over reactions like this are a big reason behind the declining religiosity in this country. Whining about the removal of snow flakes just makes Christians look childish, greedy and dumb, and then people begin to associate those qualities with Christianity as a whole.
Pick your battles, that's something something to live by.
@lostrib:
This guy is probably the biggest moron that has ever existed... and that's not just based on this stupid cup thing, there are so many shining examples of his utter stupidity all over the internet.
Anyone that is genuinely concerned about the "war on Christmas" needs some horrible life experiences so they can get their priorities in order.
No. People are just sick of politically correctness.
What? Because Starbuck's cup doesn't do enough to celebrate some fake god?
Are you simple or just ignorant?
Far too many things done these days are done out of the fear of offending someone and to be quite frank, someone who gets offended over seeing Santa or the words "Merry Christmas" should find a very high bridge. There are things which should become a concern and those which should not. The average person today is a wimp who finds offensiveness in the most miniscule of things.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt, why do you think this coffee chain altered its cup? The reason is exactly why some stores make their worker say "happy holidays" in order to prevent offending others.

Are you sure they changed it to be more 'politically correct'? Do you know this for a fact or are you just assuming?
So somehow removing trees, snowflakes, etc. from their cup is making it less 'Christmas' and more universal and PC? Do you know how dumb that sounds?

Plague,
Companies do things like this for p.c. reasons. They always worry about "offending" yet in the end always manage to offend someone.

And yet they still sell a Christmas blend

Personally, I think it's because companies are realizing that Christmas is becoming more of an international holiday and, as a result, seek to grab the attention of non-Christians worldwide and in country. Or maybe it's for PC reasons.
I agree that people will get offended regardless, even if the company had good intentions. Hell, if companies were all saying "merry Christmas" and having manger babies and stuff, people would complain that the commercialization of Christmas is bastardizing what the meaning of Christmas is, and even that's debatable.
I'm Catholic and couldn't care less about Starbucks' cup.
The "War on Christmas" doesn't insult me in the sense of society attacking my faith, not at all, it's the piss off that we've gotten so PC that during Christmas time - the commercialized version (which I have no issue with) - has become a "Happy Holidays" time. That pisses me right the **** off. I say Merry Christmas, as a gesture, and I get corrected by someone who takes offence to that? I'm saying it, not in the "I'm Catholic join me", I'm saying it as it's Christmas time, have a good one.
So my position is that the cup kind of supports those people who are all about being PC and Happy Holidays.

Exactly this.. One would think that most Christians would be sickened not by stuff like this or other trivial matters, but the rampant consumerism that goes on to the holidays.. Racing to get that new game console, or waiting in line forcing retailers to work during Thanksgiving so they can get that sweet new tv.. It's would Jesus would have wanted I am sure.
I don't go Starbucks anyway.. 5 bucks a cup of coffee really?!
A cup of coffee at starbucks is far less than that
Actual coffee is, yes. But as soon as you start making an espresso-blended drink, the cost balloons up into the $5 range. And that's before you add flavour shots and other crazy shit.
But a regular cup of coffee is still on the pricey side of things. I can get a 16oz cup of coffee at Tim Horton's for $2.00 CAD after 13% tax. The same size at Starbucks is almost 50 cents more.
Looks like a cost-saving measure.
Also looks to be the spawn of communism, but that's neither here nor there. Or is it?
Perhaps instead of buying a $5 coffee, they could give that money to charity like a real Christian would?
Buying a coffee makes someone a fake Christian?
Almost everything Christians do makes them a fake Christian.

Clearly you used all of your brain coming up with that one.
Are people in the US so paranoid at this point that they think someone wants to take christmas away in a armed uprising?
Since that's kinda what War is.
No people are just idiots.. Black Friday, the shopping day meant for Christmas shopping, now begins DURING Thanksgiving... Christmas is so big, it is taking over ANOTHER major US holiday.
No that's big business taking over two holidays.
