While some people are blessed with not needing to work out, I have a tendency to balloon if I go a while without working out. Earlier this year I got back into martial arts, and since January I've managed to lose 27 lbs (~12.25kg). Unfortunately, not having martial arts classes over the summer has resulted in putting 5 lbs (~2.3kg) back on, so I went with a friend of mine to the gym, resulting in a lot of soreness after biking, workout machines, freeweights, ab bench + medicine ball, and swimming. Hopefully next month more than just 3 people will sign up for martial arts classes.

What do you all do to work out?

Once in a while, maybe once a year, I'll decide to work out everyday. I'll do pushups for maybe 3 or 4 days in a row, then stop. I suck.

Never. :/ I'm not fat, but nor do I have a particularly athletic physique, but that's fine by me.

5 days a week over the summer. Fall-Spring I tend to go 6 days a week. Typical Break Down. Chest, Bis/tris, Shoulders/Back, Legs/abs with at least 1 day of Cardio and abs in the middle.

When my senior year of HS football ended back in October, I decided to tell myself that I don't really need to lift anymore (I used to lift/do cardio almost daily).

That was a terrible idea! I didn't get fat, but I lost a lot of my mass I had during the season and off-season. It is still affecting me now, as I'm trying to get back to shape again..:x

But when I did play football though, I lifted 3 days a week with a planned workout and I did cardio almost every day. I plan on getting back to the lifting schedule soon again, but for now I just do cardio almost daily. I might also add in P90X. I want to get back in shape quickly before college, which is next month:P

I don't really make a point of going to a gym to work out. My current job involves regularly lifting heavy weights(~36kg) and lots of walking.

I don't work out. I should, but I don't. I was thinking about joining a gym, but I am pretty sure the money would just go to waste. :(

The last few months it's been pretty difficult for me to work out but in the last month or so things have turned around. I've been working out everyday and I've lost about ten pounds within the last month or so through regular exercise and sensible dieting.

5 days a week, with an hour long work out consisting of push ups, crunches, free weights, etc. I also bike and jog for cardio. I don't have to worry about gaining weight if I don't work out, but I like to maintain a decent level of fitness.

Can't be bothered, so never. I hate the gym. :P Although there was a one-off few months where I was training for a charity bike ride when I went a few times a week so I can do it..I just choose not to. I don't enjoy it at all.

I think there's a danger in American thought that you have to go somewhere in order to work out. I know people that manage to keep up a good physique just by doing push-ups and sit-ups in their room before going to bed.

I would love to do some cardio, but I cannot run (my knees are garbage) and I can't swim (don't know how). That only leaves the elliptical machine, am I right?

No, I actually have a sore knee right now, so I went 3.5 miles on an exercise bike. Which was actually quite fun... it was sorta like Wii Fit's running course where you watch a screen and go in a loop, plus there was a pacer to "motivate" you, but the difference here was that the bike would provide resistance or lighten up depending on what kind of hill you were on in the game, plus you'd have adjustable bike speeds and handles to steer (it also checked your heart rate).

An abbreviated P90X, supplemented with a cycle-trainer in front of the TV (too hot or dark to ride outside). I do 45-60 mins a day to maintain my current fitness level.

I was 270 a month ago but then I put my fat ass on a diet and went down to 250. Still heavy, but being 6'4" with a large frame has it's advantages.

...Too bad I never get motivated enough to exercise.

Football practice does the job. We run for 40 minutes, then we do weightlifting for 40 minutes and then the last 30 minutes are football plays/drills.

I'm on my feet walking around outside 40 hours a week, so I guess that counts for calorie-burning but I also do Taekwondo twice a week and that's a fair bit more rigorous.

im a natural couch jockey....or office chair jockey. basically im happy when my backside in on a seat of some sort. but for my own health i have joined a gym that i go to 3 times a week. i friggin hate it (i am in absolutely no way a sporty or athletic person and my will is very weak..and i dont like physical pain at all....or being breathless...or straining myself in anyway :P) but i also wish for many more years of perfecting my couch jockiness so the weights gotta go.

I don't officially "work out" like lifting weights or running, etc... But I chose once a week because I love to ride my dirtbike often which can be a very physically demanding activity.

Not really tbh. You could do a lot of it, but not all of it When I lived in a house, I had more than enough room. But I live in an apartment since I moved to Dallas...there is not enough room w/out moving a bunch of crap to do it all You have a good build already (not fat, in shape) I would try to watch it and pull parts you like from it

I recently moved the bench press to my place, so instead of waiting for people to get out our apartments fitness center, I can now do what I need to do at the patio. I banged my knee really bad a couple weeks ago, so I didn't work out in those weeks. I'm planning to get my sixpack more define by September, but it kinda bother me that my sixpack aren't even, ah well. I blame genetics.

The chin-up bar is amazing to have in your home.
I have one in my bedroom doorway and make sure I always to a set when I enter or leave. Even if that were all I did, I would still have a nice upper body V shape going on :)

Well I also live in an apartment and my doors are pretty weak so it can't support pull up bars so I'm using bands. I'm also pretty fat ( 5'6 180) but as Horton says ,"Do you best and forget the rest" I've been improving a lot since day 1. I couldn't even do some basic sit ups, now I could almost keep up with them.

Yeah, I understand. I can't wait to do it though, there are a lot of benefits from yoga (both my mom and dad did yoga when we lived in India and they always told us about the benefits).

Work is a pretty good enough workout for me as it is. 40 hours a week, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Hard manual labor in a warehouse. And when I'm not too tired or sore after a long day, I try to get in a workout here and there.

As of late been thinking of getting into a gym or back into Martial Arts. There's a decent spot in my area that offers up Silat, Kali, Muay Thai, and Jeet Kune Do. I've been thinking of starting up classes there soon. That is, if my schedule permits it.
