I hate it when people call it pop instead of soda, it makes me want to cringe when people say it but I try hard to not to because they would be wondering what its wrong with me. I'm not the only one who hates this?

Mostly everyone in Canada says 'pop'.
At least, I haven't heard anyone say Soda here in the past 15 years that I've been here.
[QUOTE="cd_rom"]Stop calling coke soda and pop.Aquat1cF1shThis. :P I say soda, but I say coke a lot too.I hope you're not clalling
'cause that's something that really bothers me
I hate it when I go to a resturaunt and I say "Can I get a coke" and they say "Is a pepsi ok?" That annoys me.

I've heard it in canada and the midwestern US.Agreed, It's particularly bad when they've got no Dr Pepper. WHY MUST I HAVE IT IMPORTED TO MY COUNTRY!?!I hate it when I go to a resturaunt and I say "Can I get a coke" and they say "Is a pepsi ok?" That annoys me.

They legally have to ask.
Wait what? It's a regional thing, did you ever think maybe people hate when you say soda?XilePrincessI live in the regional area that says pop. I have never met anyone who dislikes when people say soda. It bugs me more when I hear people say Coke and they mean soda in general.

Wait what?If you ask for a coke, they can't legally serve you a pepsi. They are different products made by different companies. If some one caught them selling Pepsi under the name coke, both companies could get them in a lot of trouble.

It's bad enough they call it pop, but they also have to go as far to hate people who use the term that actually sounds right? That is just sickening. Those people need some help

:| You do realize that I'm referring to people who calls a drink "pop" right? Of course I'm serious

How do I block this person?
You are discriminatory against pop sayers. popopopopopopop. :PRE: this 'can't serve you pepsi if you ask for coke without asking' debate, does that apply to other beverages as well? I've heard of multiple people who serve in restaurants where people ask for ginger ale and they mix sprite with a small splash of either coke or pepsi, and people can't tell the difference. Is that illegal too, or would it only be illegal if they asked for one specific brand of ginger ale? Does that also apply if I just go in asking for a cola-type beverage, do they have to tell me what brands they have? XilePrincessThe thing about ginger ale is that it's not a trade mark. It's a generic term to describe a type of pop with ginger flavour. I've never heard about waiters mixing drinks together, but I can't see that being OK, though like you said, they're unlikely to ever get caught.
If they asked for a specific brand of gingerale, then yes, that is the only brand they can serve, unless the customer approves another one after the waiter suggests it.
If you ask a waiter for "cola," then they can serve you any company's cola. Because like ginger ale, it's a generic term to describe the flavour.
