Could we just cut to the chase, please: Which browser should I be using if I want a higher score in online IQ tests?

I use IE...because it has a space at the top that allows you to type in the URL of the site you want to visit.

Since IE is the default browser for Windows machines its pretty much a given that IE will have a larger userbase than other browsers that need to be installed by the user on their own. As such, the larger install base means a larger sample size so you'll have a greater range of IQs than other browsers. This all contributes to a potentially lower average.

Did someone pay them to do this study? A Microsoft competetor most likely. People's choices have nothing to do with IQ and if it wasn't a choice, then that doesn't make them less smart than people who use other browsers. It's an internet browser for love's sake.

According to that graph, the average IE6 and IE7 user is clinically retarded (IQ < 85), and IE9 users are borderline (IQ = 85). I really question the validity of these results if they're getting ridiculous findings like that.

edit: Went to the site of the people that did the study and it turns out that they used a "free online IQ test" which explains why the results are so weird. I also found this story about how IE users are now suing the people that did the study, which I thought was funny.

I mainly use the Chrome Canary Build, with Firefox 7.02a as my backup. I also think I have Opera installed but I never use it.

Well, Its not like if you use Opera or Chrome you are a genius, but it shows a link between people using earlier versions of Internet Explorer and IQ. The problem for me is that IQ tests are not very trustworthy.

Doesn't IE come with Microsoft computers by default? Does that mean when you download chrome you magically become more intelligent?

I have replied to this question before. It doesn't. It shows that since IE comes on MS PC's by default that the users of IE and Earlier versions of it aren't that computer literate on average(NOT ALL USERS) and that they are more resistant to change.

I use firefox, but only because flash player doesnt work on IE on my computer anymore.

The main reason why I got it was because I kept hearing people say how it could block ads and keep them from ever showing up again. I have not been able to find this feature or figure out how to use it. The only way I've seen it block ads is the same way IE did it, which sadly only blocks pop-ups.

Not surprising, really. But it's less that it's IE and more that it's just the defalt browser. Most people who use computers don't know how to change a goddamn thing on there.
