Today at lunch, my girlfriend asked me the infamous question, "What are we doing this weekend?" I replied, "Well, I have a basketball game Friday night so, that's out. Saturday is open, but Sunday is the Super Bowl, obviously." I figured we'd just be dealing with Saturday, but she asks where we are watching the game. I was hoping to just stay home and watch the game so I get to see it, but she wants to either hang out with me during the game or find a Super Bowl party for us to attend. I just want to watch the game in peace and I know she'd let me, but she most likely wouldn't enjoy that decision. Any ideas?

just explain that to her man, tell her that you wanna have a nice evening at home (with her possibly) while you watch the game, if you want to top it off tell her that you want some alone time with her to get close while you watch the game

The Super Bowl is the one day out of the year that I deem it acceptable to ignore your girlfriend. She needs to understand that this is man time. She should be practicing bringing you beers and beef jerky.

Don't watch the game and do something that actually matters with the person you love?

Sports are such a waste of potential.

Make it a blast for you two. Make some snacks have her over and watch it together. IF she's not a football watcher look at it as an oportunity to get her interested. My wife use to hate football, but after she spent time watching it with me she...urm, hates it less? >_>

Slap that *****.

I don't see what's so bad about inviting her to your house to watch with you, or something like that. If you're not comfortable watching football with her, she's not the girl for you.

Just have her watch the game with you. She'll probably get bored unless she's into football and go find something else to do.

This isn't a joke thread, so let's come up with serious answers, okay?

Good one, though, I laughed. :)

She'll try talking though. That's not acceptable unless she's discussing the game which she's not capable of doing yet.

We made the Sweetheart court at our high school Valentine's Day dance and she didn't want to go because she knows that I don't like all that attention. I'm going. I'm buying her flowers, tickets, a suit for myself, and taking time do make her happy. How's that?

Our first date consisted of watching football at her house, so I'm more than comfortable watching football with her. I just don't want to end up ignoring her during the game and make her feel bad, but it's obviously one of the best events of the year.

Being an Eagle fan, I'm not really rooting for either team. The Giants winning would bring nothing but praise for beating the Pats and over hyping Eli for the rest of his career. The Pats winning leads to 19-0 talk forever and Mercury Morris dedicating his life to branding an asterisk on the Pats.

That's only slightly above the 'skip the game and do something else with her' suggestions.

I know I'm gonna end up watching it with her anyways but I just hope it's somewhere quiet enough to enjoy the game.

That's true, but she has some [very enjoyable] ways to distract me from the TV and I could very easily pay less and less attention during the game. Ehh.

The first half is always boring, then they turn it up in the second half.

But honestly, it'll probably be boring. Even The Greatest Show on Turf had a poor first half performance, I guess it's cause the bye week makes them a little rusty.

It had to be done.

True, but the Pats are even better than the Rams were. I know I can get her to just spend a quiet night with me at my house or hers. I should have thought it through more before asking for help.

Why don't you record it, hang out with her during the day, then watch it by yourself at night?

Edit: Even if you don't do that, are you not willing to miss this one game for her?

If this is a "serious" relationship you should be able to miss out on a game for her. I would like to think that people hold their relationships in higher regard than sports that can be recorded and viewed at a later time. And yes, I am a male.
