My question is: Does one really support the troops if that persons disagrees with what the troops largely believe to be right?
I understand that people care about the soldiers' fight, but do they actually support (as in hold up the ideals) them? I think supporting and caring are sometimes two different issues. Many want the troops home, but don't believe in the fighting. "Support the Troops" is a bumper sticker slogan...and not so different than "Save the Whales."
I don't care if you don't like Bush, or if you are against the war. Support our troops. Remember, they are fighting for your right to protest.monkeytoes61
No they're not.
Our right to protest was never threatened by Iraq.....yoshi-lnex
Exactly. I want to rip the yellow ribbons off of people's cars...It's just saying "Hey I'm Rush Limbaugh".
No, I am agaisnt using our military power to advance goals of US hegemony.
I cannot support anyone's decision to join the military in its current condition.

Are you even American? How can you say that about the brave men and women fighting for us at this very moment? Actually, they were Saudi...at least 15 of 19 were.

no they weren't. afghanistan was the country that sposnered the 9/11 attacks. besides, 9/11 is not the erason we went into Iraq. We went there to take Hussain out of power and end his regime that had tortured and enslaved his entire country.[QUOTE="TallicaFan2005"][QUOTE="monkeytoes61"]I don't care if you don't like Bush, or if you are against the war. Our amry can fight each other for all I care, they are doing us no good.

Afghanistan was run in part by the Taliban which was associated with Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda was to blame for the planning and execution of 9/11. Just because the attackers weren't from Afghanistan doesn't necessarily mean that the leaders of Al-Qaeda didn't have anything to do with it. Recruits of Al-Qaeda are rampant throughout the Middle East...including Iraq.
[QUOTE="monkeytoes61"]they are fighting for you. and fighting for a country in dire need of help. if you can't understand that, I feel sorry for you.HewkiiAfrica needed (and needs) more help then Iraq needed at the time. Its a shame Africa isn't an economically viable place to invade.
Try selling cell phones to the natives!
I dont think that right has been messed with in a while dude... :|xtn702
It's messed with all the time. It's a constant struggle.

That doesn't change the fact that we owe them for their service to us.
i don't support the war, so why should i support the troops?dante_123456
Finally, an honest question. I disagree with your assumed assessment, but appreciate that you speak the truth.

OK... with the $2 sticker, right?

Obviously. The more stickers people buy, the more free we will be from warrantless surveillance.
I mean Saddam bin Laden.
Ah, screw it. Just buy those stickers.

Finally! Some people that actually support the troops. I don't care if you like the reason we are over in Iraq or not, the point is, members of the US military are dying. Do you think the troops had a say if they went to Iraq or Afghanistan or not? No! So stop with the "I dont care for the war so I dont car for the troops" thing.

Absolutely, many did anyway. It's a volunteer force.

nice. my brother joined the Marine Corps and is shipping out to Iraq this November. That's why I made this thread in the first place. We have to support our brave men and women, whether you agree with the war or not.I hate it when anti-war people say they won't support the troops. They are going through hell, and yet people can simply say they support them. Not the war, just the soldiers. Simple enough right? Show some love for you own country people!
Shiggums
What the hell difference does it make if they SAY they "support the troops" or not? What does that even mean anyway? Just some more political nonsense.

I see your point andI agree with it, but what I meant by my original statement was Bush originally sent them over there, for those that were already inlisted they had no say.

And its great too that you mention torture because we have tortured quite a few innocent people over there with incidents such as Abu Gharib.. Ironic really..

Thats partially true, though forces such as national guard have been forced to go there far longer then they were ever told or signed for.
