[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"]Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was a hilarious movie. Film-Guy
Shame it didnt get a wide release, it was one of my favorite movies of 2005.
Yeah, Robert Downey Jr. is priceless in that film. I didnt expect much form it, my mother actually told me to watch it (she has a bad taste in movies) and I ended up loving it.
[QUOTE="johnnyv2003"]My Surprisingly Good Movies List
Mean Girls
The Notebook
Last Action Hero
How High
Film-Guy
I hate to admit it, but I liked mean girls too.
no shame in liking Mean Girls...if anything the movie showed how great Tina Fey is at writing...to take source material about dim-witted high school girls and making an enjoyable movie really shows off her skills

He and Val Kilmer make a great duo. Also it was great seeing Shane Black directing after writing some of my favorite action movies like Lethal Weapon and The Last boy scout.

This is one of my favorite scenes from the movie.
'You know what you get when you look up idiot in a dictionary?"
"A picture of me?"
"No, the definition of idiot which you ****ing are."
Me and my brother was both on the floor laughing when he said that.
1.Doomsday 2.Sky High 3.Rambo 4 5.FEASTteh_destroyer
ha, didn't know anyone else who enjoyed that movie...me and my friends got in free to see it....i was amazed by how good it was
[QUOTE="SuperMario_46"]Troy, i saw it yesterday and i was expecting another crappy epic movie but it was really good.Film-Guy
I was addicted to watching Troy, I probably saw it at least 7 times.
i cant say how many times I watched it, but I watched this scene over and over http://youtube.com/watch?v=XIqooC3hfY0
Hmmm lets see:
The Day the Earth Stood Still-Saw this in my sci-fi horror film class and I hadn't heard much of it and just expected a mediocre 1950's sci-fi movie. Turned out to have some of the most amazing commentary on human nature that I have ever seen. The scene where the alien goes to Arlington cemetary is priceless.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers-Again saw this in class expecting it to be some stupid campy movie but it turned out to be pretty entertaining.
Ginger Snaps 1 and 2-Two relatively unknown movies that turned out to be very entertaining. Lots of horror sequels SUCK but Ginger Snaps 2 happens to be good and isn't just some lame re-doing of the original film.
12 Monkeys-Well this may sound weird, but I remembered liking the movie as a kid but we watched it in that class and my God I hadn't realized how much I LOVED that movie!
A Clockwork Orange-Lots of times you hear about how great a movie is and then walk away dissapointed after finally seeing it. This wasn't the case though and it is one of my all-time favs.
Suicide Club-Random Japanese movie I had never heard of turned out to be one of the craziest and awesome movie experiences. Such an insane movie but in the best of ways.

Ginger Snaps 1 and 2 are really good movies, 3 however is not as good.
I guess for me:
The Rundown
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Snakes on a PlaneI didn't think any of those would be good, but boy they were quite entertaining.
Yagr_Zero
The Rundownw as pretty much the rocks only good movie, it was on TV so often and I watched it every time I saw it on TV for a few weeks. Sure its a big dumb action movie, but it was fun as hell.

Yeah but thats what happens when you completely depart from the storyline.......
Oh I think I should add a few more onto my list:
Iron Man-Like everyone has been saying, it was surprisingly good as movies hyped to such a degree tend to be letdowns.
Harold and Kumar 1 and 2-You never know if popular comedies are actually going to be good at all but both of these movies delivered on all levels and are classics in my mind. They both revolve around the simplest of premises (2 guys just trying to get to somewhere and they keep getting side-tracked) and yet they have both been hillarious and have had some of the most random and hillarious moments on film in a while. The 2nd one managed to even bring in social commentary into the humour and make it fit perfectly with the humour seen in the original movie. Also, the Niel Patrick Harris stuff is pure genius and I want the man to get a supporting actor award for his role in the second movie.
Saw-Alot of people like to bash this movie, but it had my jaw on the floor after the ending. It is my all-time fav thriller and thats impressive for a movie that started out just showing up at a film festival. I totally see why Lions Gate bought the rights to the movie so quickly.
Minutemen - a TV movie from Disney channel
I just watched it last night and I can say it was pretty awesome (no sarcasm whatsoever)
I thought Sunshine would be a moderately enjoyable modern Sci-Fi flick, but it turned out to be a really great movie, and a real gem for sci-fi fans.
I didn't expect much from Ong Bak when one of my friends showed it to me at a party, but that had some really awesome action sequences in it.

You got that part right. I just loved Christopher Walken's character in that movie. I couldn't tell if I should laugh or be intimidated by his actions.Click :D
I wasnt expecting much, but it turned out to be really good. :P
Jester070
For your sake, I hope you're joking.
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
I picked it up on dvd from supermarket thinking it might be ok but nothing more since it's so old (this was before I released that older movies are great), and I was blown away from start to finish. Now it's one of my favorite movies.
Sunshine
Thought it would be like Armageddon or something but was so much more.
Serenity
Didn't look like much on the trailer but was great.
Troy, i saw it yesterday and i was expecting another crappy epic movie but it was really good.SuperMario_46
I thought Troy was alright too. But until now I haven't found anyone else who thought the same.

ah, I expected sunshine to be good and I thought it was until it turned into a stupid slasher movie which the concept was ripped off event horizon.
Happiness, Little Miss Sunshine, Juno, A Man Apart.Rekunta
from that list, you'd like "you, me, and everyone I know". Have you seen it?
hopefully I got the name right.
I hate to admit it, but I liked mean girls too. Film-GuyWhy wouldn't you. It was surprisingly good.
American Psycho, I agree with too.
There's another one....
