I was watching the news to hear that the Taliban have gained more ground in Pakistan, and now stands 60 miles from Islamabad. Anybody not scared thinking these extremists are in a nuclear-power's own yard? I wonder when the world will finally say enough is enough and crush these men. You think after the September 11th attacks, the Spain train bombings, London subway bombings, Bali Night Club bombings, the Phillipine insurgency, that the world would realize this is a real threat to societies around the globe.

The world does consider the Taliban a threat. However, the US poisoned the "war on terror" when we used it as an excuse to invade Iraq. The reason why Pakistan doesn't do anything about the Taliban is because the Pakistani government is impotent in certain regions of the country. It's not so much that they don't care, it's that they're too weak to do anything and are too proud at the same time to allow the US to conduct operations inside their borders.

Al Qaeda and the Taliban are not one in the same. The Taliban focus their activities in the Pashtunistan region in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Al Qaeda are an extremist organization within the extremist organization.

What needs to be done in order to stop them is to legalize heroin. It is their only major source of income and they control the entire agricultural market in Afghanistan.

Wait a minute. That can't be right. The Taliban were defeated in Afghanistan, crushed by the brilliant strategies of George W. Bush, who accomplished what even Alexander the Great could not!

Don't take my word for it. Read what conservative Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer had to say in December, 2004!

What has happened in Afghanistan is nothing short of a miracle. Who is responsible for it? The New York Times gives the major credit to "the Afghan people" with their "courage and commitment." Courage and commitment there was, but that courage and commitment was curiously imperceptible until this administration [the George W. Bush administration] conceived a radical war plan, executed it brilliantly, liberated the country and created from scratch the structures of democracy ... Against all expectations, Afghanistan is the first graduate of the Bush Doctrine of spreading democracy in rather hostile places. We should take a moment to celebrate a remarkable success that had long seemed so improbable.

Charles Krauthammer (Washington Post columnist), December 10, 2004.

If they Nuke anyone, any country they inhabit will have missles from evey north american/european country falling on it simultaneously. I don't think it's the smartest idea.
