She would not be such a success if she were not talented. The most embarassing song I like a lot is Bowie and Mick Jagger "Dancing in the Street" Mostly because of the tears of Rolling Stones fans. Bowie is always awesome though because even when he isn't, he still is somehow.

Listening to Taylor Swift is indeed a religious experience. I'm just not sure if it's one of saintliness or one of sin. At least with some musicians you know where you stand one way or the other.

No, she isn't. She's a product of the music industry as many other acts are. A little talent, a lot of engineering. The fact that most of her songs deal with the same subject, and are often stalkerish, makes her wild success even more of an indictment of the music industry.

Can she sing anything that singers can't typically sing? Can she write about subject matter that isn't typically written about? Can you she play anything of complexity on guitar? Is it difficult to make something catchy? Is catchiness a testament to some sort of quality? Is she really that talented?KHAndAnime

But as for Taylor Swift? I'll be damned- I listened to about 2 hours of alt rock/pop radio the other day,  the best song that played was "Love Story" by T swift. Her songs are catchy, and bands these days need to step it up.
