If anyone hasn't heard of this show, it's a show on History channel about technology that most people think are impossible, but it goes over how close we really are to achieving it, etc. Tonight it was about controlling the weather. It really went over alot of stuff. One thing was that ELF antenneas effect the jet stream by pushing clouds higher into the atmosphere. There are at the moment 20 of these powerful ELF antenaes on the globe. It also went over how these ELF's can cause earthquakes as well. Another thing was mentioned how by using planes to release certain metals in the sky, and using the ELF to super heat them, it would increase the air temperature and cause cloud to go away and cause draughts. It makes you wonder if alll this stuff isn't the reason for global warming, or all the terrible weather we seem to see year after year.

Maybe weather but "natural diasters" such as hurricanes, tsunamis, etc. may be caused by big explosions bombs, missles, etc. they might trigger tectonic plates to shift.

I was told a few years ago that back in the 80's, the military developed a dye that when released into clouds, it can make it rain. I never really looked into it though. =/

Well, I'll tell you one thing: it looks like some summer-hating nut has his hands on a rain-making device because it's been raining for the better part of two months already here, in NY, and we're getting even more this week. Impossible?? I don't think so....

Coincidentally, there's a 2-part tv movie on NBC this Sunday about this very thing.

China did that for the olympics... they launched cannons with stuff that causes the clouds to release rain early.

Why the heck would you want to mess with the weather?

It's pretty much the earth's response to the uneven heat distribution caused by the earth being round.

Why would you want to mess with something that happens naturally?

What would be the point? People would just demand hot summer days all year long.

I'm pretty sure it's silver nitrate that they use to make it rain.

True. Weather is one of the subject matter where we know too little of. I wouldn't go so far as to say a butterfly flap it's wing in the Amazon would cause rainfall in the Mid-Atlantic region but I am willing to bet an atmospheric change in one location has an impact somewhere else somehow.

Exactly how I have no idea...

I can see some nut getting a whole to such a technology and threatening to melt the polar caps if he doesn't receive a exorbitant amount of money.....

It's not really a dye I don't think. But silver iodide can be used for cloud seeding which is supposed to do what you are saying. There seems to be some controversy on the true effectiveness of it.
