Because it fits perfectly in their plans. Our government wouldn't have had any good reason to attack Afghanistan or Iraq if we didn't have 9/11. They wouldn't have gotten away with creating a huge bureaucracy of terror if 9/11 didn't happen. They wouldn't have been able to pass the patriot act and they wouldn't have been able to create a Department of Homeland Security, homeland security was a term coined by the Nazis and there's no room for a department like that in a free nation.

Well, the government has control of the mainstream media and the education system, so we're constantly fed pro-government propaganda. Hmmmm, maybe airplanes are not made from aluminum, magnesium, and steel. Maybe they built the WTC from materials that were ahead of their time instead of concrete and steel. What do all of those materials have in common with thermite? They can all be found in thermite in some shape form or fashion. Who would have guessed that they found those things in the debris of the towers after they collapsed?

As far as conspiracy theories about 9-11 go, common sense goes a long way, epecially after watching a plane physically slam into a building live that morning.
