What I mean by "epic" is a huge believable fantasy universe/world.

It's been sad to say farewell to the last Harry Potter movie. We've had 8 Harry Potter movies, 6 Star Wars movies, and 3 Lord of the Rings movies. Is there any movie franchise as rich and epic in scope as these?

No other movie franchises has had such an influential impact to hollywood and the world as these movie franchises.

What do we look forward to now?

Original ideas? Movies that put their emphasis on storytelling instead of special effects? No, that's just crazy.

I didn't really enjoy the Harry Potter movies tbh, and some of the newer Star Wars movies didn't leave the best impression.

There's still The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia films. I'm sure there will be more epic movies, there's a big market for them. Also, this isn't a movie, but you might be interested in the HBO adaptation of Game of Thrones. It is fantastic.

I don't think we've seen the last of the epic movies. As mentioned by others, there are a few coming out soon that could easily be considered epic, if they're done right. And I have to imagine that someone in the world will come up with a new awesome idea at some point, even if it takes a while.

:P I'm fairly certain that there will be more "epic" films to come. I'm personally pulling for the film adaptations of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, which supposedly are coming up in a couple years.

I suppose that counts. (even if the idea seems so very done to death.)

I stopped watching Twilight at the first movie, and that alone discouraged me to read the books. Plan on seeing Breaking Dawn for the lulz, though. :P

Though I'm not particularly a fan of those three franchises, I do find the idea of creating films about stuff in a fictional world very appealing. So I'm really excited to see what might come out in the future, especially if it's something based off an idea rather than it is based off of a book or a movie made long ago.

Don't think by 'believable' he means 'realistic', like it's a setting you could imagine being in, as if it were real, and not just laugh at. Unlike say, Inception, where DiCaprio is doing the 'epic' plan scene, and it's complete utter bs, which was the end of the movie (for me) unbelievable and unrealistic.
