[QUOTE="m25105"][QUOTE="sonofsmeagle"] Its simple he doesnt want his legacy tarnished by fighting guys that would actually pose a problem, and if you think the Forrest Griffin fight is any indication of what he;d do at LHW then your an idiot. Forrest is slow, gets rocked easy and prefers to technically strike even tho hes sloppy at it, Anderson is one of the best technical strikers in the business and Forrest trying to strike with him is just so stupid, get Anderson to fight guys like Rashad, Davis, Thiago Silva or Jones and he will get destroyed by them. No he prefers to fight at MW where he has a reach and size advantage over just about everyone, not to mention 3/4 of his fights have been perfect for him stylistically.sonofsmeagle
You can dismiss Forrest as much as you won, he's still a former champion with wins over Tito, Rampage and Shogun, and I don't even like Forrest. Also hindsight is 20/20 many thought Forrest would pose great problems with his style for Anderson. He's making the weight and fighting at it, if a LHW felt like they could dethrone him, maybe they should move down instead, since it seems "so easy". You're quick to jump on the gun and calling others idiot it seems, but you're also completely overlooking Anderson's skills. I'm not overlooking his skillset, he is a great counter striker and is so even better at counter striking at his weight class where he has a height and reach advantage over most of his opponents and those that he doesnt have it over arnt skilled enough in the striking department to even stand with him.
Also Forrest is one of the luckiest guys in the ufc, he fought a shogun extremely out of shape and coming off knee surgery and thus got the title shot by taking advantage of the not even 50% shogun. (proved in their rematch where a healthy shogun destroyed him without breaking a sweat)
Then when he fought quinton he used his weakness and that is his lack of leg kick defence and barelywon the title many including myself think that rampage had won that fight by atleast a split descision.
Also what style would pose problems for Anderson? i'm pretty sure that 80% of the mma community was writing him off due to his slow punches and kicks being his main weopon.
Rashad could make MW prob the easiest and would defently beat anderson to a pulp, so too could shogun they both weigh around the same as anderson, but choose to fight in a weightclass that is natural to their bodys.
Thing is Shogun fought a 50% Forrest, his mind was not there he didnt want to be there. His wife just had a baby he wanted to go home and his heart isnt in fighting anymore.
Shogun would not beat Anderson, sadly he too is passing his prime even though he is not even 30. Too many knee injuries have taken their toll on him.
