Kanye, Jay-z, Lupe, or Kid Cudi (Love the way he blends different types of music.) Also, Wu Tang even though a lot of their best work was from the 90's

Based strictly on rapping ability...PackFM and J. Cole.
Kno's probably my favorite hip-hop artist today, but I like him more for his production than his rapping. He's still a solid rapper though.

Really depends on what your definition of "this generation" is too.

I like Blu :(, but I mostly listen to below the heavens, can't say I listened to his other stuff as much. But umm I don't know it's a hard one to be honest there's plenty of good rappers this generation, but the first three that instantly pop up in my head are Kanye west, lupe, and eminem. What in the world has Wiz Khalifa done to even be mentioned in the same sentence with Eminem? I've heard the kush and orange juice mixtape, but that's all.

Im going with J.Cole with chamillioanire (hios mixtapes not albums) in second.

To me they have 100x the lyrical talent that rappers like lil wayne, eminem, jeezy, jay-z have. Mainstream rap sucks its all the same crap. I have heard enough about selling drugs, having sex, and cars.

Why is everyone so into Eminem. He is so bad it's not even funny. He has been singing about the same stuff since 1997.Blacklight2
Actually hes really varied, talks about alot of different subjects. Does it it many different ways too. You should actually listen to him. If anything, alot of his fans thinks hes changed too much.

He's an excellent MC, but he is hardly varied in subject matter. He rehashes the same basic themes over and over.

Orly? His subjects to me appear to be these...

1. He hates his mom

2. He hates his ex wife

3. He had a bad childhood

4. He loves his daughter

5. Apparently his life is hard

6. He is not a fan of his father

7. Also women are bad, or something

I Eminem, but he is getting a bit tiresome lately. He needs to get his personal life out of his system. I honestly really have no favorite that I can call the "best" of the generation. Everyone has their faults in my opinion. But you know what, I'd probably give it to Big L if he were still alive.

Its clearly Eminem. Since freestyling is rap in its purest form, he would beat any mainstream rapper in a battle. He got second place in the '97 rap Olympics.

It's funny how most the rappers mention in this thread aren't even that nice on the mic. Wiz? B.o.B.? Cudi (dude doesn't even rap anymore)? Quit putting them in the same discussion as Marshall ****ing Mathers just because you refuse to look past the radio. OT makes my head hurt.

My picks would be Joe Budden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7rnaeFbzmY And Royce Da 5'9" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQNDRrZflBA Lyrically both are light years ahead of the most of the cats listed here, especially Joe Budden.

Seriously, Eminem is a legend and when it is all said and done he will be considered one of the greatest ever. Rakim, a pioneer of hip hop known for being the first to use internal ryhmes and complex literary devices has said Eminem is on of the greatest of all time.

true em fans know he hasn't been nice sense 2004 and even than he was falling off. He made 2 great albums, a good one and the rest are garbage, even em admits it. also wiz isn't on the radio, hes underground, hes just well known because alot of ppl in there early 20s, college kids an stoners can really relate to what he talks about, thats his fanbase, its underground but its very large.
