I actually do know about Nicholson's Joker. And I think that the fact that it was a long time ago and the quality of the character makes him pale in comparison to Heath Ledger in the eyes of many of the newcomers to the Batman series nowadays.

I've seen a few eisodes of the '60s series, saw the bits and pieces of the '60s movie, seen every Batman movie made, most of the original animated series, a few episode of The Batman animated series, and I still think Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker completely dominates all other Joker roles. It was perfect! :o

Ah yes. So someone appreciates the little tidbits that I do.

Okay I'll add my 2 cents.

Jack Nicholson was a good Joker. But it's just Jack being Jack. All I see is Jack in make up and a purple suit. His laugh was good,

but all I see is Jack Nicholson not the Joker.

Now when I first heard Heath Ledger being announced for the Joker in The Dark Knight. I wasn't sure what to think. I only saw him

in a few films which were the Patriot, 10 things I hate about you, and A Knight's Tale. So I thought well I'm sure Nolan must of saw

something. And when I saw the Dark Knight I was blown away by Ledger's performance. Ledger's Joker was truly psychopathic yet

would some times be funny but at the same time threatening just like how the Joker is in the comics. Jack Nicholson's Joker was

crazy and funny but not truly psychopathic.

But you know it's just an opinion.

Although I appreciate Heath's Joker, I gotta say Jack. His Joker was just more fun.

I grew up with the original 1989 Batman and just like it more. I like Keaton's Batman more. I like the car more, the plot, music etc.

You can label me as nostalgic if you like, but I genuinely prefer Burton's film.

this is an apples to oranges comparison because both performances are meant to convey unique joker characters. heath portrays a much darker, twisted, and misanthropic joker (despite some girls at the theater laughing every time he made an appearance, which is missing the point), while jack played a more comical and zany joker. both jokers are well-acted, but i prefer heath's portrayal since he is significantly scarier to me and is a more effective foil for his respective batman.

The 2nd Robin died... the 1st one became Nightwing and the 3rd is the current one.

Also Jack's Joker =/= Heath's Joker

Heath's is based on the 1st 2 appearences of the Joker in the comic series.. Jack's is based on the more harmless Joker from the 70's.

Heath Ledger did an amazing job as the Joker. I prefer Jack Nicholson's joker though for many reasons. The only thing that could have made the original joker better was making the movie geared more toward adults, and making the movie rated R.

Jack Nicholson is the MASTER of psychological roles. The original Batman was made for kids and adults to enjoy. This new movie is definitely for adults.

I liked how in the original it showed Joker's past, and that Batman created the Joker in a sense. The original Joker was the true comic book joker, while Ledger's was a gothic twist on the idea of the joker. Nicholson's Joker actually had permanant green hair, white skin, and a evil grin, it was like he became something not human.

I also miss all the gadgets, and killer toys the joker had. Where was the fun in the mayhem? It was just Dark, and to me the true Joker isn't just dark, but put on a form of entertainment and fun while causing mayhem and Chaos.

Also Jack's Joker had THE BEST lines and dialogue. No one will ever out dohis classic & memorable scenes in the original Batman. His look and attire are still unmatched as the Joker as well.

I'd also like to add when you compare the scenes that the new Batman movie tried to redo (the showdown in the street, joker's take over of the mafia, ect) the original was so much better imo (except for the pencil disappearing act which was just funny and cool lol).

Remeber the parade to "Prince" in the streets, and the toxic balloons haha, classic! Then Batman in his Bat jet comes barreling toward him to take him out, and the Joker stands there with no fear at all (with .50 cal slugs ripping apart the street around him) and pulls out the MEGA MAGNUM and shoots the Bat Jet out the sky! CLASSIC scene, out of many others.

Wait till they get a load of me, WOAP....WOAP HAHAHA!
