is this really something to live by, a book which teaches love, yes, but also teaching being gay is a sin. definetly gods word huh. look, i believe in a higher being and going to a better place when u die, but the bible is obviously not the word of god, a bunch of guys sat around and wrote a book claiming this is what god told us , and its been altered throughout the course of history, i cant stand people who think planet earth started 3000 years ago, its a joke, how can you take the bible seriously.. anyone agree with me.PandaSlayer
Can u prove that a bunch of guys wrote it and that God didn't dictate to them. And please shoe me the original version of the Bible if its gone through so many alterations. And the Bible never states the earth is just 3,000 years old. At the very least it would be 6000-10,000.

There is no point in discussing such a matter...

John 3:16-18 says

16. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

Let's look it this way... it's better if I believe those wordsand find that nothing happens after I die, than not believing and finding out it was true, receiving therefore judgement in what is called hell...

As for me, I'm going to heaven, not because I'm good or I go to church, but because of God's grace through Jesus, as it is mentioned in the Bible. And I believe the Bible is the word God has given mankind just because it has changed my life. If you choose not to believe, I can't do anything about it... ;)

[QUOTE="luke1889"]Surely the fact that the Bible states homosexuality to be a sin tells us that it was written entirely by man. Why would an all-loving deity hold such prejudices?syorks
I don't think He does. I'm a Christian and i think its a sin but i believe that homosexuals can still go to heaven.

"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:13)

It is pretty clear from the Bible that God deems homosexuality to be a sin, and from what I gather, sinners do not enter Heaven.

From this, we can conclude that the god depicted on the Bible is indeed prejudiced, and this does not reflect an all-loving deity, but a totally fabricated manuscript based on social attitues of the day.

So give in to a religions number one recruitment tool, fear? No thanks. I won't. And I'm pretty sure if the Bible is right, God would know the only reason you believe in him is to save your own ass, and you would be right down in Hell with the OT forums.

It makes no sense whatsoever to not believe in God. Let's say I'm wrong and there is no God. I die and that's it. But let's say there is a God and I'm right. Win.

That's a rubbish reason. I forsee your life is in grave danger, I shall avert the danger in exchange for 500 dollars. Do you pay me the 500 dollars because it's better to do it other than to not believe it and die? Come on, be real!

Can you prove that god wrote it or even if he exists? (bet you saw that coming ;) ) you have to put a certain amount of faith in anything and everything to believe it, anything that has come up over the years taht could prove his point is disbeliefed and highly criticised (and sometimes covered up) because no one wants to be believe it (and an infinite amount of reasons that would make stopping religion breaking down a good idea)

Then u don't know anything about the Bible or Christianity.Everyone is a sinner and should go to hell. But since Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself on the cross that paid the debt for our sins. All our sins can be forgiven if we accept jesus Christ as our Savior and ask for forgiveness. If what u thought was true then everyone would be in hell.

The Bible itself isn't that bad - it's just a book of stories that teach you to be a good person and whatnot. But when people use the Bible to further their own agenda, or when people take it too literally, that's when the Bible becomes very bad.

I can't see why you would want to read the bible. Its written in old English language and speaks a bunch of lies made up by man over the years, but if thats what you want to believe by all means go ahead it doesn't bother me.

Im an agnostic i still believe there MAYBE a god. I just don't think the bible was made by him.

I can't convince someone who doesn't want to believe. My life has changed thanks to the sacrifice of Christ, and if you just believed, you could see a change in your life too... you don't lose anything, do you?

and this is exactly what I ment, its all about where you faith lies neither is more true or reliable because the arguments you can use againt religion can be used against your argument more often than not
