I didn't use the term in the epochal sense. I just used it to refer to modern human civilization in general.

@commander: Next time, if possible, I would appreciate if you added something more than just a video to the OP, like your opinion on the content you're posting, since having an OP with just a video goes against our rules ^_^

The brutal truth is that they've brought back Twinkies but they just don't taste the same. That and the too many people thing or something.

The brutal truth is life may be miserable at whatever centuries, but it can also be the most interesting thing. Are we to much accro to our technological toy ? yes obviously but we have the chance to travel all over the world, see beautiful thing, watch a beautiful sunset with someone you love.

That was... rather funny. Actually laughed a few times. It's like something about forgetting to let go of the teet when you grow up or some shit. Or something about losing yourself when you no longer have someone legally taking responsibility for everything that you do?

Worked some really shitty jobs, but never minded since after I left i always had money to do have some fun. Can always turn off your phones, and you don't need to instantly message people back on social media. They can wait a few days. It's okay, they won't whittle and die.

The pile of animals, however. Yeah. Nothing wrong there.

This.

Also it's kinda ironic that the things he's seemingly protesting about are what enable the distribution of his message.

I used to hate humanity for its stupidity. But then I realised... humans are pretty awesome. They only look dumb from the perspective of a superior being, like myself.

Most people can. They do already, albeit subliminally. They know what's right and wrong without the aid of government.

25 posts into thread and the OP still hasnt commented or gave an opinion about the video, just gave sarky comments to others posters who did post an opinion on it.

On the video, it trys pretty hard to be really sad and depressing, i thought the zombies on cell phones was pretty cool.

No it doesn't, the thread title alone means nothing.

Not everybody sees the world in such a dark light.

Future>Today>Past.

We live in a world where we're less violent, more accepting, becoming more advanced, and yes we will always have problems no matter what, new and old. That's progress for you.

Oh no sir, I wouldn't soil myself with that rationale. I was targeting the social, moral and intellectual aspects of modernism. In fact, one of modernism's few virtues is the unprecedented access to information en masse.

It comes down to the following: distill the benign, discard the malignant. Modernism is celebrated as humanity's greatest creation with no regard for its insidiousness. One must take shelter without obstinately depriving oneself of its few virtues. If my perception of the world's trajectory is accurate, I believe great things await those who can perfect the undertaking.

It's a shame there are many in the Third World who have almost nothing and yet remain cheerful while there are many in the First World who just sulk and have a black cloud over their head all the time.

If I can, I'd switch the two groups. That way, the Sad Sacks can really wallow in misery.

The important thing is finding the balance point between relying on technology and it controlling your whole life.

Makes you wonder if the reason why they are sad sacks because they don't know how to appreciate so little.

Many people aren't appreciative when things come easy for them. When my wife and I visited some of her poorer relatives in the Philippines, there was no air-conditioning. The toilets don't have running water. To flush it, you first got a bucket of water outside. No hot water either for baths. And yes. You hauled in the water you'll use for the bath. Their only amenities is a radio and an old CRT TV with over the air broadcasts. But, they always have food on the table. Not quite a first-world lifestyle. But, they're happy. They're very hospitable. They have a lot of social life outdoors. They made our stay very satisfying. I look forward to visiting them again next year.

Thats good that you didn't let the lack of amenities and basic plumbing spoil your experience. Nice one.

I would have been miserable if it was mostly the climate and the lack of amenities. But, the generally good attitudes of the people there offset any inconvenience I might have had.

I went to the Minnesota state fair yesterday and I agree. It's the busiest state fair in the US by average daily attendance and second busiest by total attendance after the Texas state fair. Some places you can barely move.

And then there are whole countries that are crowded as that. It's just a breeding ground for diseases unfortunately.

@commander: I thought it was gonna be another tiny documentary, like countless others I've seen, explaining how the way people are living these days is backwards as shit, and it certainly is... but this was far more poignant.
